The A&P Supervisor (Working Supervisor) is responsible for overseeing aircraft maintenance and repair operations while actively working alongside the team. This role ensures that all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, company policies, and customer requirements. The supervisor leads and mentors technicians, assigns tasks, and performs hands-on maintenance to ensure aircraft are serviced efficiently and safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of A&P mechanics, providing guidance, training, and technical support while performing hands-on maintenance duties.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft systems, including airframes, powerplants, and related components, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications.
Assign work orders, track progress, and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
Collaborate with the Quality Control (QC) team to ensure all maintenance work meets required safety and performance standards.
Conduct routine inspections, functional tests, and post-maintenance evaluations to confirm airworthiness.
Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and customer requirements, including proper documentation and logbook entries.
Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural issues on aircraft.
Monitor and enforce workplace safety procedures, including the proper handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
Provide training and mentorship to mechanics, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Coordinate with other departments, including paint, quality control, and production teams, to ensure smooth workflow and minimize downtime.
Maintain and enforce inventory control for tools, parts, and supplies to support maintenance operations.
Participate in meetings and production planning to align maintenance schedules with operational goals.
Requirements FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Hands-On Ability: Must be willing to perform mechanic duties alongside the team while supervising.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of aircraft structures, powerplants, and maintenance procedures.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with FAA Part 145 repair station regulations and maintenance best practices.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with teams, reporting issues, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues efficiently.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs while working on aircraft.
Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
