Job Description

The Aircraft Assembly Supervisor oversees the assembly process of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. This position is pivotal in ensuring the timely completion of aircraft builds while maintaining stringent quality standards. The role requires managing assembly staff, coordinating production schedules, and proactively resolving issues—all while adhering to safety regulations and company guidelines. This on-site position operates during the 2nd shift at our Georgia facility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement detailed production schedules, allocate resources efficiently, and monitor progress to ensure timely aircraft delivery. Adjust workloads and utilization schedules as needed.
  • Enforce AS9100-compliant quality control procedures, inspect completed work to identify defects, and rectify issues to uphold high quality standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and manage a team of aircraft assembly technicians and technician leaders. Assign tasks, provide training, and evaluate performance to foster growth.
  • Identify production bottlenecks, address technical challenges, and develop solutions to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure the availability of necessary parts and materials.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a secure and healthy production environment for all employees.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and delivery timelines. Proactively drive improvements.
  • Lead efforts to streamline production processes, implement lean manufacturing practices, and enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee Assembly Team Leads at a high level to ensure optimal team performance.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in aircraft assembly or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership experience managing teams in a production setting.
  • In-depth understanding of AS9100 quality standards and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to dynamic challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of plant supervisory experience in aircraft manufacturing or automotive manufacturing.
  • Proven expertise in planning, scheduling, and managing complex aircraft production projects.
  • Hands-on experience with developing operational adjustments to support incremental capacity.
  • Knowledge of aircraft manufacturing methods including wire harness fabrication and installation, mechanical system assembly and installation, composite fabrication and assembly, and aircraft assembly.
  • Understanding of aircraft safety protocols, tool control, FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
  • Familiarity with high voltage wiring, batteries, and electric motors.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment, with adaptability to shifting priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and manage a team while fostering collaboration and effective communication.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues, develop solutions, and make timely decisions.
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards throughout production processes.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Bonus Qualifications: A&P Certification, Knowledge of IPC 610/620 & AC43.13B, Aircraft configuration management and FAA conformity experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is a climate-controlled, new facility. Employees are expected to work different shifts and/or weekends, including overtime. The role involves working in hot and/or cold environments, operating around heavy equipment or manufacturing machinery, and using necessary safety equipment, including safety glasses, sleeves, earplugs, and steel-toed shoes. The position requires standing or walking for long periods daily, and frequently bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $42.00/hr.
