Airworthiness Avionics and Electric team within the Airworthiness Technical directorate at Airbus is looking for a support within Airbus India. The support covers the airworthiness activities from Airworthiness change classification to the approval of the minor changes to TC on:

  • Avionics Pin Programming for a given customer configuration
  • Air Data/Inertial reference System (ADIRS) MSN dependent Software Loads
  • Electrical power centers configuration tables for a customer version
  • OPCs for Flight Management System

An experienced engineer who can be trained to become DAE for these Minor Change Approvals in Airbus India, Bangalore, working with Airworthiness and Certification in Toulouse, France, is expected.

Job scope (Tasks & accountabilities):

The Jobholder exercises the Minor change approval legal privileges granted by EASA to Airbus in full compliance with Part 21 and Design organization Approval requirements, maintaining the Airbus privileges for design approval, ensuring on time approval for the permanent satisfaction of our customers (initial A/C deliveries and in service A/C design changes).

The jobholder guarantees the Airworthiness of the design changes defined by Airbus, reporting airworthiness issue to a Chief Airworthiness Engineer.

Main problems to be solved in the position:

The requirements for the Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) for the Change Approval process are:

  • Allocates the changes to him/herself in the Airbus tools (Aircam) as Airworthiness mod leader
  • Reviews the change dossier from the Design Office, classifies the change with regard to part 21 criteria.  Within Airbus tool (ACC2).
  • Appraises the design change, identifies the applicable requirements within Airbus tool (ICC) and verifies the compliance to applicable requirements provided by the Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE), if relevant.
  • Completes the Modification Approval Summary in order to approve the Change within ICC, as Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) or communicate specific refusal to the CVE and Design responsible.
  • Record the Change approval in Airbus tool (ACC2).
  • Report issues in order to support the head of repair approval, for training or reporting or improvement on the repair approval.
  • The Engineer must master the Airworthiness and technical knowledge covering the various changes he/she will have to approve as DAE.
  • The changes cover most of Airbus commercial A/C programs requiring a knowledge on all concerned programs in term of airworthiness requirements but also design.
  • Knowledge of tools (Aircam, ICC, ACC2, …)
  • The A/C delivery schedules drumbeat the activity, indeed the changes must be approved in due time to support A/C deliveries. When the change is for installation on an in service A/C the schedule is driven by the Service Bulletin targets.

  • Access to all the tools: Aircam, ACC2, ICC …
  • Access to the Airworthiness Technical Directorate adequate share folders and drives
  • Delegation process related documentation (and specific training).

Major end purposes:

Signature Delegation (Check / Approve/ Refuse) in order to deliver Change approvals in line with Programs expectations.

Required Domain Expertise (skills):

  • Graduate/Post Graduate Engineer (Aerospace Engineering / Avionics and/or Electrics Engineering/Civil Engineering)
  • Avionic or Electrical System Engineer, widely experienced on Aircraft Avionics or Electrical system engineering knowledge, with an integrated view of the aircraft with the following requirements :
  • The engineer has a proven experience on large aircraft avionics or electrical system, and preferably on Airbus products. This experience is gained from areas such as maintenance, support or design and the most appropriate is that of avionic or electrical system design engineer.
  • Technically competent with the Design principles used to the compliance data.
  • Exposure to Avionic and Electrical systems design documents is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge on airworthiness Part21subpart D and on EASA CS25/JAR25/FAR25 avionics and electrical systems requirements is an added advantage.

These experiences will reinforce the back ground of the candidate, his/her capacity in understanding, integrated design and airworthiness of an aircraft.

  • The position has an Airworthiness function, the following requirements are a plus:
  • Engineer should be knowledgeable of the Airworthiness domain, on process product and technical requirements and integrated aircraft design, in addition should be able to question and to understand application of technical airworthiness requirements.
  • Should have a sound knowledge of Product Design.
  • Conversant with the roles and responsibilities of a Type Certificate holder operating under a Design Organization Approval granted by EASA.
  • Experience in the various approval procedures (EASA Part 21 / CS / JAR / FAR).

  •  7-10 years.
