Role Introduction
Report To: Cargo Service Development Manager
Direct and develop policies and standards for the handling of special cargo products in the network.
Design and develop service features for new cargo products driven by Cargo Commercial along with continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide support to cargo operations worldwide for procedure, processes and system pertaining to special cargo.
Key Responsibilities
With the variety of special cargo types, the successful candidate may be assigned to taking up the particular special cargo handling solutions, including, Temperature, Handling or Time Sensitive cargoes. The candidate will be responsible to,
- Direct and develop the policies, standards and compliance programme for special cargo products by referencing IATA and governments’ regulations.
- Review and develop handling process and operating procedures through careful study on improvement opportunities, or new features for special cargo products.
- Draft, maintain and update internal documentation such as Email Notices, Cargo Service Notice, and Cargo Services Manual, related to special cargo handling.
- Ensure the Group’s and suppliers’ compliance with the international regulations and policies through port performance monitoring and inspections.
- Take the lead to refine handling processes and operating procedures through analysing performance data and service irregularity cases. Drive network stations to identify root cause and formulate corrective action and preventive action.
- Influence and support network stations to cope with the special cargo operations through detailed review on local environment, such as facility setup, and any limitations or constraints.
- Identify business needs and take initiative to propose system enhancement to deliver customer-centric solutions for both external and internal customers.
- Represent the airline in industry working group and forums influencing the group on development the optimal guideline on air special cargo product shipping
- Participate in, support and facilitate internal and external audits for the purpose of maintaining IATA CEIV certifications and preferred carrier status with customers
- Liaise with other departments, such as Airport Service Delivery, Engineering, Flight Operations for safety risk assessment, issue resolution, and service development pertaining to special cargo solutions
- Deputized for Cargo Service Development Manager or Cargo Service Development Specialist as required.

Requirements
Education qualifications
- University degree holder or equivalent.
Experiences
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in air cargo operations with 3 years’ supervisory experience.
Job related knowledge
- Sound in cargo services, airline cargo acceptance processes.
- Sound in operations knowledge, cargo load and trim, weight and balance.
- Qualified or familiar with IATA special cargo regulations (Live Animals, Temperature Cargo, Perishable Cargo) and IATA Audit requirements (Quality and Risk Management) would be an advantage.
Skills and language requirements
- Self-motivated and possess ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Polished communication and interpersonal skills and able to interact with people at all levels with different cultural background.
- Good business acumen with analytical, planning and o business acumen with analytical, planning and o business acumen with analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Independent and detail-oriented.
- Willing to travel overseas if required.
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English. Fluent Cantonese and Putonghua is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
