Role Introduction
Reports to: Financial Reporting Manager
The Assistant Manager Financial Reporting sits under the Financial Services Department will play a pivotal role in the Cathay Group Financial Reporting Team in the provision of summary and detailed financial analysis. The Assistant Financial Reporting Manager will also responsible for insightful statutory and management reporting for Shareholders and Directors.
Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Financial Accountant position.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate production of monthly management reports including consolidating data from various sources for meaningful variance and other analysis
- Support in the planning, coordination and production of interim and annual group and entity level financial statements, accounting schedules and related external reporting deliverables, and addressing queries from external and internal auditors
- Determine appropriate accounting treatment and internal policy for transactions in accordance with accounting standards and management reporting needs
- Oversee centralised group-wide related parties’ and connected parties’ transactions and streamline intercompany reconciliations
- Implement internal control processes to enhance quality, consistency, and accuracy of reporting
- Partner with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to provide financial analysis in support of forecasting and budget initiatives
- Handle full sets of statutory accounts for investment holding subsidiaries
- Drive improved efficiency and effectiveness across related processes and automation projects
- Coach, guide and review work of team members
- Perform ad hoc assignments as and when required
Requirements
- Degree holder and Qualified Accountant (CPA or equivalent)
- Audit experience with internationally recognised audit firms a definite plus
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience of which 2 years experience in a supervisory role. Experience in preparing audit schedules, audit responses and financial statements preferred
- Strong analytical mind and interpersonal skills, A good team player working collaboratively with others
- Strong skills in MS Office applications, especially in Excel. Experience in using SAP advantageous
- Good command of spoken and written English and Cantonese/Chinese
- Takes accountability for executing tasks to a high standard
- Able to work under pressure and be flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
- Takes the initiative to look at process and efficiency improvements
- Proactively seeks guidance and asks thoughtful questions
