Job Description:

The Assistant Manager Technology invests in the future of Southwests People by overseeing two PODs on the Customer Business Delivery and Analytics Team. This Team primarily supports Marketing and Southwest Business with products such as the Customer Data Warehouse, Travel Portal, Data Insights, etc. Their work supports multiple modernization efforts, including cloud migration and transformation, and will also improve our abilities to deliver data quickly and provide better customer service and experience with our new Travel Portal functionality. The Assistant Manager Technology is a People Leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills who looks forward to leading a cross-functional strategic team tasked with helping define and shape new opportunities for Southwest.

Additional details:

  • This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in a remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is a limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.

  • Deliver technology solutions using best practices to achieve maximum Team productivity while delivering high quality products

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, processes, and solutions related to assigned responsibilities

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships and credibility while influencing and driving change across respective Business and Technology Teams

  • Work alongside Technology and business partners to measure financial benefits and demonstrable business value

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of business/Leadership principles, including planning, organizing, developing, and supervising

  • Knowledge of technology practices, concepts, methodologies, tools and trends

  • Skilled in partnering and communication in order to facilitate interactions with business Customers and technology teams

  • Ability to use appropriate motivation and influence techniques to achieve desired Team results

  • Ability to set and manage stakeholder expectations

  • Ability to deliver quality projects on time and within budget

  • Skilled in organization, communication, and prioritization and ability to work in matrixed environment that includes Employees, Vendors, and Managed Services

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

  • Required: Bachelor&39;s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent formal training

Experience

  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:

    • A Business and/or Information Technology environment

    • Direct or indirect Leadership experience

  • Preferred: Knowledge of the AWS platform, Data Integrations, IDF, and Analytics

  • Preferred: Experience in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment

Licensing/Certification

  • N/A

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information

  • Air travel with frequent overnight stays required

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive market salary from $137,250 per year to $152,500 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
