Job Description:

The Aviation Maintenance Fleet Manager (also called Maintenance Controller) plays a key role in overseeing the hands-on maintenance and operational management of assigned aircrafts. This includes directly working with aircraft, ensuring timely inspections and repairs, and coordinating maintenance events to minimize downtime. You will be responsible for managing aircraft records, planning and executing maintenance activities, addressing AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations, and collaborating with scheduling and service centers to ensure aircraft readiness. This role requires a deep understanding of aircraft maintenance, the ability to lead a team, and a commitment to regulatory compliance while supporting company goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the hands-on maintenance, upkeep, and auditing of aircraft records, ensuring logbooks and CAMP statuses are up-to-date.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance events, developing work packages that align with company goals to minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Manage AOG situations from start to finish, including vendor selection, work progress, and parts supply.
  • Provide timely updates in Jet Insight and manage the Return to Service (RTS) process efficiently.
  • Coordinate major events such as engine removals with providers, ensuring compliance with FAA standards.
  • Collaborate with scheduling and operations teams to route aircraft, optimizing schedules and ensuring minimal disruption while meeting maintenance needs.
  • Ensure reliable fleet maintenance schedules, keeping track of deferrals, labor hours, and parts ordering.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between operations, aircraft owners, and maintenance teams to manage costs, downtime, and schedules.
  • Participate in weekly Maintenance Planning Meetings to discuss and plan aircraft service and maintenance needs.
  • Prepare annual maintenance budgets for each aircraft, tracking expenses and financial forecasts.
  • Manage maintenance events from start to finish, distributing work instructions and ensuring FAA compliance.
  • Provide detailed turnover reports for the on-call Fleet Manager, assisting with additional tasks as needed.
  • Flexible availability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, or holidays as necessary.

Essential Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience. Private Jet experience PREFFERED.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license required.
  • Strong multitasking and proactive planning capabilities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours and be on-call as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with aircraft types including: Citation 750 – X, Citation 680 – Sovereign, Citation 560XL – Excel, Citation 525 series, Phenom 300, and Pilatus PC-12.

The position involves hands-on work, including aircraft inspections, requiring some physical activity like bending, reaching, and sitting for extended periods. The role also involves lifting up to 20 pounds and maneuvering those loads during inspections.
