We are looking for a skilled, results-driven Avionics Supervisor to join our team. The Supervisor will embody the core values of Respect, Safety, Quality, and Results while ensuring aircraft maintenance projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Working closely with the Project Manager, Director of Maintenance, and Skills Leads, the Supervisor will oversee daily operations, assign workloads, and ensure compliance with company policies, FAA/EASA regulations, and OEM MPDs.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality standards, safety, and timely project delivery. The Supervisor will report daily progress to the Project Manager and address any obstacles to ensure successful project completion.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Maintain a thorough understanding of the company’s Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM) and Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) requirements.
  •  In collaboration with the Project Manager, assign the following to Skills Leads:
  •  Manpower requirements
  •  Ground support equipment
  •  Tooling and equipment levels
  •  Facility availability
  •  Oversee Avionics production flow, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within scope.
  •  Coordinate with all departments to ensure proper workflow, sequencing, and project completion.
  •  Hold daily meetings with Skills Leads to review project scope, requirements, and budgetary constraints.
  •  Provide daily status updates to the Project Manager, reporting progress and addressing concerns.
  •  Collaborate with Skills Leads to allocate billable man-hours and estimate hours for non-routine tasks, ensuring customer approval.
  •  Monitor project progress, comparing planned vs. actual man-hours, and ensure the project stays within budget and schedule.
  •  Maintain responsibility for the project’s budget and delivery schedule, ensuring both are met.
  •  Delegate tasks as needed while maintaining overall responsibility for successful project completion.
  •  Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports, promoting teamwork and high-quality workmanship for on-time aircraft re-delivery.
  •  Ensure safety standards and regulations are enforced in the work area to prevent accidents.
  •  Promote good housekeeping practices, fostering a safe and organized work environment.
  •  Verify proper tagging and storage of aircraft components and parts.
  •  Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, enhancing efficiency and safety.
  •  Review personnel performance and aircraft progress daily, adjusting plans or schedules as needed to ensure timely task completion.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School diploma or equivalent required.

· Four years in Aviation Management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required.

· Valid driver’s license required.

· A&P License required.

SKILLS & COMPENTENCIES:

· Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

· Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in English and the ability to follow and give clear instructions.

· Skilled at prioritizing, delegating, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

· Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

· Exceptional presentation skills, representing the company professionally.

· Strong leadership abilities, including two-way communication, judgment, creativity, and conflict resolution.

· Adaptable to rapidly changing circumstances, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic environments.

· Calm decision-making in emergency situations.

· Deep understanding of human behavior and management techniques to drive team performance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· 5 years of experience of aircraft avionics experience.

· Bilingual in Spanish.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This role requires working within aircraft avionics maintenance hangars, ramp and offices. Employees may be exposed to high noise levels, temperature variations, and materials listed on Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Safety equipment is required to mitigate these conditions.

  • · Physical Demands:
  • o Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • o Occasional bending, climbing, stooping, and squatting.
  • o Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • o Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are necessary for performing tasks safely.
  • · Work Areas: Aircraft maintenance hangars, production booths, and flight-line environments.
  • · Protective Equipment: Ear protection is required due to high noise levels.
  • · Potential Hazards: Exposure to high-intensity noise, extreme temperature changes, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and working around moving machinery.

WORK LOCATION:

This position may require working at both the Marana, AZ, and Tucson, AZ locations, as business needs dictate.

SMS REQUIREMENTS:

Supervisors with the overall responsibility for, safety, quality and employee performance of their operation is the person who ensures Ascent Aviation’s policies and procedures are complied with and ensures Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances and rules are equally enforced and adhered to.

 

The Supervisors will be responsible to ensure that all required routine performance audits are complied with and are conducted and reported within the specified timeframe. The Managers/Supervisors/Leads shall ensure all corrective action is complied with and maintained in accordance with the agreed plan.
