Reporting to the Manager Cargo Ground Handling Performance, the incumbent is responsible for the delivery of training material for the Americas including the management of the program for new destinations and / or the hiring of a new service provider at an existing station within the region. The incumbent will be required to provide training in both English and Spanish.

Responsible for ensuring the training delivery meets the Safety, Security and Service standards as well as IOSA, SMS and other applicable regulatory authorities. Assure the good management of the Cargo training planning for his respective region

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver classroom-based training for all mandatory requirements.
  • Deliver all Air Canada operational system training (Weblynx, Smartload)
  • Successfully complete Recognition of Firearms, Explosives & Incendiaries Instructor Course (RFX)
  • Research & Develop training material based on local and international requirements in conjunction with Cargo Training & Development
  • Develop training strategies pertaining to training delivery for continuous improvement
  • Support the planning and acquisition of all local training supplies to support training plans while maximizing cost efficiencies.
  • Be a Brand Ambassador for Air Canada Cargo and promote its Corporate Values and Flight Path.
  • Ensure efficient training delivery to fulfil Air Canada and Ground Handling companies’ contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate annual or recurrent training modules, to forecast optimal training delivery and Track and maintain all training programs and up-to-date modules, including related exams, bulletins and handouts
  • Monitor and evaluate Corporate Standards and Cargo procedures on an ongoing basis to determine applicability and ensure their relevance prior to implementation.
  • Communicate training delivery feedback on successes, failures, suggestions and suggest improvement or change where applicable
  • Redevelop corporate training as required to meet local/international requirements in conjunction with Cargo Training & Development
  • Oversee new employee induction and coordinate with Resource Planning Manager, Cargo & Human Resources
  • Assist auditors in local station audit
  • Support new GHA station openings & changeovers, as well as refreshers to meet Air Canada SOP as required
  • Set up new station procedures on-site together with required training in conjunction with Manager, Cargo Ground Handling.
  • Work with GSA / GHA’s to provide instruction, procedural information, and direction.
  • Provide training as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education (Field of work, technical/professional discipline for the position)
  • Grade 12 minimum, university or college diploma preferred with emphasis on management training
  • Licence(s), attestation(s), certification(s), association(s) required
  • Six Sigma green belt training or equivalent.
  • 2 years practical project management experience. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the operation aspect related to the cargo world. 
  • Knowledge of the business environment and the ability to analyze, interpret, and respond to trends within the region.
  • 2 years practical project management experience with a Canadian Air Operator in tow or more of the following areas. 
  • Flight Operations, light dispatch, in-flight services, airports, cargo, and security.
  • Range of business/industry knowledge required for the position
  • Must demonstrate significant achievements in specific quality areas and/or issues.
  • Proven superior interpersonal skills, writing skills and leadership capabilities. 
  • A comprehensive understanding of the operation aspect related to the cargo world.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations and Commercial Air Services Standard.
  • Corporate Safety Management System (SIMS AQD, Corporate Risk Assessment SMS Safety Management System, CAR’s (Canadian Aviation Regulations), Security Regulations, Dangerous, Goods Regulations Specialist Training, Pub 100 Corporate Safety Management Manual, Air Canada Cargo Quality Manual (ACCQM), IOSA Standards, Corporate Environment guidelines
