Starting in March 2025 and working out of our Plymouth site, this is a pivotal role that will present the successful candidate with unlimited career advancement opportunities.
Role Overview:
To manage the commercial aspects of current customer contracts and the commercial/contractual aspects of all new business, while maintaining a high level of integrity, compliance with laws and regulations, and securing maximum business advantage for the company. This role will involve travel to various sites, usually on a quarterly basis to Japan and California.
What you will do:
- Provide commercial/contractual/legal expertise to the business to manage risks, maintain integrity and ensure compliance with company procedures.
- Generation of the commercial/contractual aspects for a wide range of bids and proposals; through to and including internal price authorisation and submission to the customer in compliance with delegated authorities.
- Generation of suitable contract terms and conditions, including payment terms, appropriate for each business opportunity in compliance with best practice and company guidelines.
- Management and mitigation of contract risk.
- Commercial activities; Compliance with Government and other regulatory requirements in all aspects to include costing, pricing / export compliance, including licensing requirements / ITAR compliance.
- Negotiation of contract terms and conditions and prices, for new business and amendments to existing contracts, managing complex quotes.
- Management of the commercial customer interface for current business and new business.
- Provision of ad hoc legal guidance to the business.
- Protection of company Intellectual Property and compliance with guidelines.
- Serve as the Commercial Officer on behalf of Collins Aerospace supporting Silicon Sensing Systems Limited (SSSL), a Joint Venture between Collins and Sumitomo, a Japan based MEMS Sensor Foundry, focused on development and manufacture of MEMS Sensors (Gyros and Accelerometers) and Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs).
- Contractual and Legal advice to UK and Japan Directors and Management teams
- May include SSSL Company Secretarial duties
Qualifications we prefer:
- Advanced degree and relevant experience OR in the absence of a degree, 5+ years relevant experience is required.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programmes.
- Experience of working with ERP systems. Knowledge of SAP would be an advantage.
- Experience within defence industry negotiating and administering contracting with UK MoD contracts, USG and other international contracts. Or other UK contracting experience is essential.
- A sound understanding of the legal aspects of contracting is essential.
- Working knowledge of UK MoD DEFCONs and US FARs and DFARs.
