Job Description:

The primary duty of the Purchasing and Supply Manager is to ensure that parts, materials, and supplies are available to meet production schedules. This includes maintaining required documentation as to the source and quality of parts in compliance with domestic and international regulations. This position is also responsible for maintaining inventory in an orderly and available manner. Manages the costs of materials and supplies within established budgets.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Assure that all purchasing activities are in compliance with FAA and relevant international standards.
  • Stand up a parts room in compliance with FAA and relevant international standards.
  • Select reliable sources of supply, prepare purchase orders, and purchase parts, materials, and supplies at the lowest cost consistent with regulations and approved quality and delivery standards.
  • Conduct purchasing activities to ensure that parts, materials, and supplies are available in necessary quantities to meet production schedules.
  • Establish stock minimums in collaboration with the Production Manager.
  • Responsible for control and tracking of parts and materials, including assurance that usage is tied to the correct project or activity.
  • Identify and implement improvements in the overall purchasing program that will advance the interest of the company and contribute to the delivery of the highest quality VIP interiors.
  • Place orders with suppliers or vendors and ensure that required sourcing documentation is in order.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to understand project requirements and ensure that required materials are available when needed to meet schedules and commitments.
  • Partner with the Chief Inspector to maintain up-to-date knowledge on changing standards and requirements.
  • Work with sales personnel and project planners to ensure bidding is accurate and can be completed within proposed schedules and costs.
  • Participate in project review meetings and be prepared to identify any emerging issues in parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Report on parts, materials, and supplies monthly, including the status of materials for projects, general stocking levels, and compliance with budget.
  • Champion the use of continuous improvement processes to improve efficiency and organization of Purchasing and Supply activities.
  • Aggressively establish and maintain the company’s values, cornerstone principles, and standards; Facilitate communications and resolve issues productively.
  • Manage and develop staff to ensure that:
    • Appropriate hiring criteria are utilized for approved positions and candidates are selected to provide the right skills at the right time.
    • Personnel are trained in all aspects of aircraft maintenance and modification to ensure that work is properly performed to meet the company’s high-quality standards.
    • Annual performance reviews are conducted using approved processes; including the establishment of performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • This position requires 10 years of purchasing experience with at least 5 years of aviation industry specific.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is not required but is preferred or comparable experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This is not a remote position.
  • You are required to be present at the Arkansas office during normal work hours, which are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • The noise level is usually moderate, and this position is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk or hear, stand, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations and the ability to write purchase orders and procedure manuals.
  • This position must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATH ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • This position must interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Software: MISA (preferred), Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Internet software, MS Project Management, E-mail.
