Job Summary
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the oversight of all maintenance of the Kalitta Charters II fleet of Boeing 737s. They are responsible for leading a team of aviation maintenance professionals and coordinates with other departments to support operational goals and ensure timely aircraft availability. The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the airworthiness, dependability, and clean conditions of the fleet. This role ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and industry standards while maintaining the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Requirements
- An Airframe and Powerplant License
- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid unrestricted driver’s license
- Minimum of 10 years of aviation experience, with 5 years in a previous leadership role.
Functions/Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, supervisors, and support staff.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Carry out aircraft maintenance activities safely, on time, and within cost.
- Collaborate with operations and scheduling teams to minimize downtime and maintain fleet readiness.
- Responsible for maintaining a close liaison with local FAA Airworthiness Inspectors.
- Establish programs and prepare work plans for the repair, overhaul, maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of aircraft, for both current and long-range projections.
- Review the manning requirements for all maintenance related activities and makes recommendations for judicious use of personnel.
- Lead a Maintenance Training Program and maintaining training records.
- Coordinate with the Chief Inspector on matters and record keeping in relation to aircraft scheduling, inspections and reliability issues.
- Ensure an adequate level of expendable and ratable parts at the main maintenance base and selected outstations.
- Review and maintain security of locally assigned company assets including tools and equipment.
- Establish and complete annual Internal Surveillance (self-audits) of all departments under his control
- Ensure the accomplishment of all maintenance items in excess of routine line maintenance.
Experience & Skills
- Hold a mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings
- Have a deep understanding of FAA regulations and aviation industry standards.
- Have at least 1 year of experience responsible for returning airplanes to service
- Have 3 years of experience within the past 6 years in one or a combination of the following— Maintaining large airplanes with 10 or more passenger seats, including at the time of appointment as Director of Maintenance, experience in maintaining Boeing 737s and/or repairing airplanes in a certificated airframe repair station that is rated to maintain Boeing 737.

- Candidate must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment drug screen and a DOT/FAA compliant background check

Location Requirements
- Operation based in Ypsilanti, MI at Willow Run Airport (YIP)
- There is no ability to work from home
Shift Requirements
- Must be available full-time and work overtime when required
