Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations (Helicopter) to oversee and manage our client’s Part 135 helicopter operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of FAA regulations, exceptional leadership abilities, and a proven track record of operational excellence in the aviation industry. This role requires strategic thinking, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. This position is based in the Southeast US and is accompanied by competitive compensation and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of Part 135 helicopter operations, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote and uphold a strong safety culture throughout the organization, conducting regular safety audits and training programs.
  • Flight Planning and Coordination: Oversee flight scheduling, crew assignments, and aircraft dispatch to optimize efficiency and meet client demands.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage operational budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or service quality.
  • Personnel Management: Lead and mentor a team of pilots, maintenance staff, and operations personnel, fostering a positive work environment and professional growth.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response procedures to handle unexpected situations and ensure the safety of personnel and assets.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with industry trends, FAA regulations, and safety standards, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance.
Job Requirements:
  • Must meet all requirements listed in 14 CFR Part 119.71(b) as applicable
  • Must be qualified with 3 of the last 6 years’ experience in Part 135 aircraft
  • Previous experience as either a Chief Pilot or Director of Operations
  • Must have a current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate Helicopter
  • Prior Air Medical experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve operational goals
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in computerized flight planning and operational software
