Swift Air is seeking a highly motivated Director of Operations to be located in Greensboro, NC.
 
Qualifications: FAR 119.65(d) 119.67(a)(1-3)(1-11)
 
1. Be qualified through training, experience and expertise;
 
2. To the extent of their responsibilities, have a full understanding of the following materials with respect to the certificate holder's operation:
 
  • Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices;
  • 14 CFR Chapter 1 (Federal Aviation Regulations);
  • The certificate holder's operations specifications;
  • All appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of this chapter (e.g., Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121 of this chapter); and
  • The manual required by 14 CFR §121.133 of this chapter; and 
3. Discharge their duties to meet applicable legal duties and to maintain safe operations.
 
4. Hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
 
5. Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years, in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted with large airplanes under 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 of this chapter. Or, if the certificate holder uses only small airplanes in its operations, the experience may be obtained in large or small airplanes.
 
6. In the case of a person becoming a Director of Operations:
 
  • For the first time ever, have at least 3 years’ experience, within the past 6 years, as Pilot-in-Command of a large airplane operated under 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 of this chapter, if the certificate holder operates large airplanes. If the certificate holder uses only small airplanes in its operation, the experience may be obtained in either large or small airplanes.
  • In the case of a person with previous experience as a Director of Operations, have at least 3 years’ experience as Pilot-in-Command of a large airplane operated under 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 of this chapter, if the certificate holder operates large airplanes. If the certificate holder uses only small airplanes in its operation, the experience may be obtained in either large or small airplanes.
  • The Director of Operations must be a full time employee of Swift Air
Job Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1. Reports to the COO.
 
2. The Director of Operations supervises the following positions:
 
  • Chief Pilot
  • Director of Training
  • Manager of In-flight
  • Operations Control Manager
 
3. The Director of Operations is responsible for managing the Company’s flight operations.
 
4. They are the most senior Company official held responsible for operational control. They ensure all policies and procedures as they relate to operational control are followed.
 
5. Through the appropriate managers or supervisors the Director of Operations will ensure the following policies and procedures are administered correctly. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • The Director of Operations will be responsible for the Chief Pilot and Pilot oversight, guidance and direction during fueling operations, as well as ensuring that the Fueling Manual contains current fueling information that is relevant to flight operations. The Director of Operations will also be responsible for responding to operational concerns raised by Company personnel regarding fueling, deicing, dangerous goods and any other item brought to his attention.
  • The Director of Operations will be responsible for Pilot oversight during operations. The Director of Operations or designated representative will be available to provide guidance and direction as necessary when operations are in effect.
  • The Director of Operations will ensure that the Company manual system contains dangerous goods information that is relevant to Company operations.
  • The Director of Operations will also be responsible for ensuring that specific passenger service information is available to flight crews and that information is incorporated in initial and recurrent ground training.
  • The Director of Operations must ensure the quality of the deicing procedures as they relate to Swift Air operations.Flight assignment and scheduling functions, including flight following and scheduling of training through the Manager of OCC and the Director of Training.In-flight policies and procedures through the Manager of Inflight.
  • Training of Flight Followers, Flight Attendants and Pilots through the Director of Training
  • Proper adherence to flight operations policies and procedures through the Chief Pilot.
  • Has control and authority for the Company Deicing/Anti-Icing Program.
  • Conducts a quarterly review of the sensitive International Areas contained in Operations Specifications B450 and the website; 
http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/ifim/us_restrictions. Briefs the Director of Safety and the Manager of OCC on what impact if any these have on Swift operations.
 
6. Has authority to establish and modify the policies, procedures, instructions, and information for the following processes: Manual Currency Process, Operations Manual Process, Operational Control Process, Computer Based Record keeping Process, Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods Process, Other Persons with Operational Control Process, Use of Approved Areas, Special Airports, Routes and Airports Process, RVSM Authorization Process, Scheduling/Reporting System Process and Crew member Flight/Duty Rest Times Process.
