As the Director of Operations you will: 

  • The Director of Operations (Engines) manages, plans, directs and coordinates overall engine service operations to achieve established goals and objectives. This position is responsible for the successful after-market support of Honeywell HTF7000, TFE-731, and other corporate jet engines and accessories. The Director plans, prioritizes and directs engine shop activity to ensure expedient cycle times, quality maintenance work, and organizational profitability.
  • The Director achieves objectives by developing and maintaining a competent operations service team engaged in production planning and control, scheduling, quality, as well as, staff development and employee relations. 
  • The Director will estimate and quote engine maintenance for potential customers through dedicated Customer Project Manager(s). The Director will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and answer technical questions, resolve objections, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates and liaises with quality assurance, engineering, materials, customer service, sales, finance, etc. to resolve difficult or continuing problems and ensure operational standards and goals are achieved.
  • Monitors and analyzes output, delivery dates, cycle times, labor, quality, staffing, facility usage, budget, financial performance, etc. for all engine shop operations. Leads and participates in the resolution of problems and the reinforcement of continuous improvement. 
  • Controls production costs by setting production standards and implementing methods improvements and cost saving programs. 
  • Ensures that all Engine Shop employees receive necessary technical training, safety training, on the job instruction, as well as information regarding company policy and procedures.
  • Conducts regular capacity planning of equipment, floor space and manpower required based on forecasted sales.
  • Conducts analysis to ensure the site engine shop operations continue to operate in a cost-effective manner as technological, legal, regulatory, policy and product changes are implemented.
  • Actively participates in the appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.
  • Exercises authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned. 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or relevant / demonstrated experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing an engine MRO shop.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of PCs in the current company operating system environment.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of company instructions, company processes, administrative policies and procedures, and export compliance regulations.

Desired Characteristics:

  • A&P License preferred
  • CIM, CPIM, or APICS certification
  • Honeywell engine experience preferred

Background Information

The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work.  The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job.  This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation.

Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is six to ten years.

Ongoing work assignments typically have only generally defined goals and provide no (or minimal) direction with respect to what action steps to follow. The abstract nature of the work is such that the incumbents education, training, and previous experience cannot assure either the goal or the approach can be clearly understood because the tangible product or service resulting from the work often does not exist when a project is initiated.
