The Dispatch Operations Program Manager provides direct support to the Senior Manager Dispatch Operations in the design, development, and management of Dispatch Ops projects, programs, and materials. This role acts as the direct representative of Dispatch Ops to provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership to cross departmental teams to ensure delivery of business processes and procedures for the Dispatch Operations Team. The Dispatch Ops Program Manager is a strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset who is ready to drive the future of Southwest Airlines.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. Responsibilities
  • Represent Dispatch Operations at project development meetings and touchpoints to ensure Teams deliver against business needs and requirements
  • Gain in-depth understanding of internal operational customer needs to inform initiative execution, project management, and product development
  • Collaborate with others on changes in policy to the Dispatchers through the creation and distribution of manual content, bulletins, and Read Before Dispatch communications
  • Leverage a deep understanding of NOC Dispatch needs and familiarity with product development processes to develop business requirements and other required documentation to support project delivery
  • Ensure risk and impact is properly understood and represented to the project teams and business leaders as project and timeline decisions take place
  • Work alongside Dispatch Operations to understand requirements and translate business needs into formal business requirements to guide development and execution of initiatives
  • Work with Leaders and Project/Program Teams to define initiative scope and ensure on-time delivery against business requirements
  • Monitor ongoing strategic initiatives across the NOC, NOP, and broader Enterprise - adjusting specific initiative timelines / delivery as needed to account for Business needs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Network Operations Control, Network Operations Planning, and other key workgroup stakeholders, end users, and support departments to help ensure business needs are addressed by initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Federal Regulations and Dispatch Operations
  • Knowledge of Southwest Airlines Dispatch procedures and tools
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
  • Skilled in working in an organized manner with a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to support roll-out of initiative to customers by representing businesss change management considerations to the project/program and change leadership
  • Represent Leader at project/program governance sessions and relay risks, challenges, and opportunities to their Leader
  • Ability to work closely with Dispatch Operations Leaders to support project and initiative development and delivery
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Employees
  • Ability to think strategically and understand the relationship between current actions and future consequences

Competitive market salary from $112,950 per year to $125,500 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • 14 CFR Part 121 airline dispatch operations
    • Direct interaction with government agencies
    • Direct participation in successful programs and/or projects

  • Preferred: Dispatcher Experience, 121 Experience, Technical report writing

Licensing/Certification
  • Aircraft Dispatcher certificate issued under federal guidelines

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 23 years of age to meet Dispatch licensing requirements
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Ability to work extended hours and varying days based on operational needs
