Duty Airport Manager (London Heathrow Airport)

Your role


Applications are invited for the position of Duty Airport Manager, London Heathrow Airport. Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager (ROM), this role is a fantastic development opportunity to gain experience at an exceptionally busy International Airport.
Working as part of a team, on a shift basis, you will manage all aspects of the Aer Lingus Ground Operation at London Heathrow Airport through our third-party handling agents and suppliers.

 

  • Ensuring that handling services provided to Aer Lingus flights by Ground Handling Agents and suppliers are performed in accordance with the appropriate handling agreements and in conformity with all operative, qualitative and safety requirement.
  • In conjunction with the ROM manage and review the SLA to ensure that it is accurate, effective and reflect the ever changing business environment.
  • Working with the ROM and Duty Manager colleagues to ensure the integration of the Aer Lingus Safety Management Systems and Ground Operations Safety Management at the station.
  • Liaising with the OCC and HCC to effectively manage delays/disruptions/cancellations ensuring Customer Service standards are maintained.
  • Managing safety incident through the SafetyNet system ensuring reports raised within 72 hours of any safety incident taking place.
  • Developing initiatives with a view to reducing unit business cost per passenger and aircraft movement.
  • Assisting ROM and DM colleagues with driving OTP and strong VOC results.
  • Maintaining a positive and proactive relationship with the Airport Authority, third-party handlers, other airlines, agencies and service providers to ensure that Aer Lingus objectives and targets are met.
  • Understanding the Ground Operation budgets and the impact of day-to-day decisions.
  • Must be contactable 24/7.

 

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Hold a current full clean driving licence.
  • At least 5 years customer service operational experience incl. supervisory experience.
  • Customer focused with a strong awareness of the Aer Lingus service standards and customer engagement initiatives. 
  • Sound knowledge of Aer Lingus Ground Operations procedures and policies. 
  • Thorough knowledge of aviation best practice and an understanding of the scope of Ground Operations.
  • Good understanding of the Aer Lingus Safety Management and Operations Quality Systems. 
  • Proven decision-making skills with the ability to make timely, clear-cut, well informed and evaluated decisions.
  • Results focused and solution delivers with proven problem solving skills to overcome obstacles and resistance.
  • Ability to take initiative and use own judgment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with a proven ability to develop productive, effective and mutually beneficial working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the talent to present information articulately and objectively. 
  • Ability to manage, motivate and drive external 3rd party performance.
  • An enthusiastic team member with a flexible attitude in providing support across a range of activities.
  • Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to work additional hours in the event of delays, emergencies.
  • Must possess excellent attendance & punctuality record.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU / UK.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Provide 3 verifiable references.
  • Able to pass a 5 year security background check*.
  • As this position is based in the UK and if you are a non UK Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the UK for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/ countries.

Desirable criteria

A sound knowledge and appreciation of the detail and complexity of the regulatory environment governing ground / airport operations, or the ability to acquire such knowledge rapidly.
