Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to be based in Bridgeport, WV. The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will act as a leader in Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the culture of the EH&S program at the PWES Plant 81 Facility.
  • Lead / coordinate continued implementation of the Raytheon Technologies and Pratt & Whitney EH&S Management system
  • Organize and maintain assigned EH&S policies and procedures to achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Aid the General Manager in leading the site EH&S Council.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of all applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures (Applicable safety programs include but are not limited to LOTO, electrical safety, machine guarding, elevated work, confined space, lifting. hoist and crane safety, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, blood borne pathogens, powered industrial vehicles, respirator protection, hearing conservation and management of change).
  • Manage a robust environmental program which includes wastewater permitting, RCRA waste management (generation / disposal) and reporting, site LQG permit, site air permit, storm water permit and x-ray registrations.
  • Coordinate the Workers’ Compensation process (with medical department and HR).
  • Coordinate / support first aid, injury reporting and investigations.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve EH&S performance and operations, including improvement programs and corrective actions, environmental protection projects, conservation activities, and integration of EH&S initiatives into the overall business operation.
  • Interface with government agencies to maintain regulatory compliance (audits, inspections, annual reports, permit applications, etc.).
  • Interface with the Training Department to implement EHS training requirements.
  • Coordinate safety inspections and analyze audit / inspection findings to develop corrective actions and achieve / maintain safe workplace / work practices.
  • Provide oversight to the contracted security agency (Allied Universal Security).
  • Coordinate plant security activities with RTX Global Security Services (GSS).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or Sciences.
  • University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • ​US Citizen (Due to government contracts).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DOT Training.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Certification or experience managing Ergonomic risk reduction.
  • A proven track record of working with ACE, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma or related Continuous Improvement tools and a proven track record of cost savings and continuous improvement accomplishments.
  • Hands-on experience and dynamic problem solver with the ability to craft solutions to everyday challenges with creative new ideas.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with ability communicate in a straightforward manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
  • Executive presence and comfortable interacting with leadership.
  • Well versed in risk assessment and risk reduction.

Role Type: What is my role type?

In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. We’ve introduced role types to help you understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is:

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
