Job Summary

The ACAA’s Environmental Project Manager – Field Services will report to the Manager of Environmental Services and assumes responsibility for overseeing the implementation of ACAA’s field compliance programs. These programs may include development and oversight of environmental remediation, stream assessments, water chemistry, passive treatment design, outfall assessment and drainage, etc. The incumbent will be tasked with driving progress in water and soils, continuing compliance of ACAA’s water systems and environmental compliance programs. 

Here is how the Environmental Project Manager – Field Services will help:  

  • Working with our approved consultants, plan and supervise short and long-term environmental field projects, ranging from small to large complex tasks across PIT and AGC’s vast acreages. 
  • Research, collect, analyze, and document environmental and operational data in support of airport planning and environmental studies.
  • Manage field projects to ensure progress and completion within environmental permits, orders, or requirements. 
  • Assist with preparing for and coordinating team meetings, client meetings, workshops, and agency meetings.
  • Manage and lead professional and paraprofessional environmental and planning contractors.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Manager of Environmental Services on project activities, progress and/or problems.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports, and complete projects accurately and on schedule and budget.
  • Interpret contracts, bid/proposals, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Review and approve the work of consultants, contractors, and other project service providers.
  • Recommend design modifications necessary to conform with regulatory and project requirements, providing assistance during various phases of project design to make recommendations.   
  • Provide professional and technical assistance to other project managers, contract officers and others during various phases of project design to help evaluate proposals and make recommendations for contract approvals/changes.
  • Represent ACAA as the technical resource for coordination and interface with external organizations or agencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements to apply for role of Environmental Project Manager – Field Services are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field that provides a strong foundation for physical science, such as geology, environmental studies, or environmental engineering. 
  • 5+ years of increasingly responsible Project Management experience.
  • Possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Class C driver’s license. Note: license must be maintained throughout employment.

 

We also expect that candidates will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in most cases:  

  • Broad knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of remediation strategies and planning, with background preferably in airport related work and/or public projects.
  • Ability to research, develop, organize, and analyze information, and formulate effective recommendations.
  • Ability to consult with fellow employees and senior staff concerning the compilation, interpretation, and presentation of research data for airport environmental studies.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is seldom exposed to moving mechanical parts that exceed those of standard office equipment. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours or be recalled to duty up to 24 hours per day, seven days a week during emergency situations or other extensive periods.
