Job Description SummaryGE Aerospace is seeking an executive level Commercial Market Economist thought leader to join our Engines and Services team! As the Commercial Market Economist, you will play a key role in our team, collaborating closely with our product line marketing leaders, our forecasting leader, as well as our marketing intelligence leader. Not only will you be responsible for the development of near-term and long-term economic forecast models that highlight market conditions, trends, and variables, but you will also be responsible for translating those forecasts into insights that will enable informed decision making at the senior and c-suite levels of leadership. This will be accomplished with the help of your direct team, but also through close partnerships with internal and external industry thought leaders.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with industry thought leaders to research and collaborate on economic landscapes
  • Collect, gather, and analyze data to create macro and micro level economic models that represent risk and opportunities to our business as well as industry
  • Share critical consolidated insights to senior and c-suite leaders to enable informed decision making
  • Generate ongoing scenario-based analyses for both emerging and established regions through robust collaboration with external economists, analysts, and industry experts
  • Remain up-to-date with industry news and trends to ensure economic models and analyses are accurate and relevant
  • Build and shape a high-performing team through fostering an inclusive culture centered around lean

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years of applied working experience in Marketing and/or Economics related position.
  • 3 years people leadership experience.

Desired Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing Intelligence, or other related field
  • Deep economics expertise with a robust understanding of the aerospace industry and the drivers that can affect our business performance
  • Proven ability to create both near term and long-term economic models and forecasts
  • Well established organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple high priority projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to break down data into actional, concise insights to drive informed decision making
  • Influential, thought-provoking leader with the ability to communicate effectively with senior and c-suite leaders
  • Leverages market intelligence and competitive information to understand overall market conditions, find correlations, and proactively see around corners to translate signals into insights/action
  • Self-educates to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the global economy, aviation industry, competitor insights, and consumer trends
  • Utilizes lean toolset to simplify, standardize, and sustain operational processes for delivering data and insights
  • Acts as a role model of our GE Leadership Behaviors

Note on Location / Travel:

The hiring team can be flexible to accommodate any U.S. work location.  Note, the business will require the employee to work Eastern Standard Time zone hours and/or come onsite initially for relevant on the job trainings as well as to build repour with their team. After that period, candidates should expect up to 20 travel annually to support business needs.
