Job Description:

Clay Lacy Aviation is looking for an experienced General Manager FBO Services for our Oxford, CT location. The General Manager oversees all aspects of FBO operations and is accountable for the team and financial performance of the site. Providing guidance and leadership for client/customer service, line operations finance and accounting, safety and environmental responsibilities, and sustainability programs. The GM coordinates sales and marketing activities for the sale of general aviation support services including fuel, hangar and office rental. Direct reports are Line Service Manager, Client Service Manager and Ground Support/Fuel Farm Manager.

Position Summary:

  • Fully on-site position
  • Salary Range: $98,600 - $162,000

Responsibilities

  • Promulgate a culture of safety, efficiency, and quality through daily observations, shift briefings, routine audits, monthly safety meetings, training, and documented safety procedures.
  • Formulate and refine procedures in the event of aircraft accidents, fires, or other emergencies. Coordinate all plans with the Clay Lacy Aviation Director of Safety to ensure active participation and continual improvement of the company’s ERP plan.
  • Develop positive, mutually beneficial relations with tenants & customers.
  • Develop and constantly evaluate a fuel pricing model that is competitive in the region, benefits the airport authority, county, customers, and the company.
  • Ensure training and development of employees to improve work performance and maximize employee potential.
  • Manage operations, including maintaining proper staffing levels based on daily/weekly/monthly volumes.
  • Responsible for financial management including capital expenditures, budgeting, audit performance and expense management.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Attend and participate in airport meetings, committees and other activities that develop and maintain good relations with the airport and local government authorities.
  • Ensure employees receive company communications and necessary training including safety, customer service standards, Company values, etc.

Performance Objectives

  • Achieve targeted financial and customer service metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement in training methods and materials.
  • Become proficient in the use of applicable software platforms in use at the company.
  • Further both business aviation industry knowledge and personal development skills through workshops, research, and seminars, and share best practices and new tactics with the team.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, aviation management or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in FBO leadership role will be considered.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Five to ten years related experience and/or training with at least three years of related general aviation management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team-oriented dedication to great customer service and the ability to inspire that commitment in others.
  • Thorough knowledge of the general aviation industry, aircraft makes and models, and ground support suppliers.
  • Prior experience establishing budgets, reading financial documents and reports.
  • Prior sales and marketing expertise in the general aviation environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety training and risk management activities.
