Role Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the General Manager FBO will oversee all aspects of Chartright’s FBO business with current locations at YKF (Kitchener/Waterloo) and YLS (Lake Simcoe) and including the day-to-day operations, customer relations, line operations, administration, health & safety, environmental functions and full people leadership.  You will play a key role in helping to drive Chartright’s continued growth by providing the highest-level service to internal and external customers and contributing to business development while promoting a positive team environment and a welcoming FBO.

 

What you will do:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations ensuring the FBO facilities are maintained to the highest level of cleanliness and professionalism with a customer-centric service experience
  • Manage FBO facility and equipment maintenance including scheduled inspections of the fuel storage facility, fuel inventory, and negotiation of fuel purchasing
  • Establish a positive team culture promoting safety, customer loyalty, brand awareness, along with collaborative and respectful ways of working                                                      
  • Drive business growth through new customer acquisition 
  • Own the fuel Quality Assurance program ensuring compliance with ATA 103, IS-BAH, and other quality standards established by Chartright
  • Implement and support standardized service levels and pricing strategies for hangar and Jet-A services
  • Responsible for the financial management and overall fiscal performance of the FBO, including capital expenditures, operational expenses and supporting the annual operating plan and budget development
  • Oversee the delivery and monitoring of staff training programs ensuring required skill levels aligned to regulatory and OHS requirements
  • Attend airport meetings as a representative of Chartright, cultivating good working relationships with local Airport Authorities and government representatives
  • Support the management of tenant lease agreements including renewals, amendments, and extensions
  • Maintain company Policy and Procedure manuals ensuring updates are in accordance with Transport Canada, the company Safety Management System and other requirements

 

What you bring:

  • A degree or diploma in Aviation or Business Administration/Commerce
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in an FBO environment with at least 5 years’ operations and people management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of aviation, aerospace design including the aircraft/hangar environment and maintenance best practices
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with ATA 103 fueling standards
  • Must possess a valid Ontario G class driver’s license with a clean driver abstract and qualify for an AVOP and RAIC
  • Solid, proven leadership abilities and experience including hiring, training, coaching and performance management 
  • Commitment to safety and experience with safety management system requirements
  • Strong business acumen with proven negotiation, budgeting/forecasting and business development experience
  • A customer-focus and continuous improvement bent, always looking for ways to add value
  • Positivity, flexibility and an entrepreneurial mind-set
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced and high pressure environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs with the ability to climb, work at heights and at times work in confined/tight spaces
  • Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to leverage company systems and programs

 

Hours of Work: 

  • Core hours: Monday to Friday - 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
  • 40+ hours per week with overtime/weekend coverage as required 
  • 100 onsite at the Region of Waterloo International Airport, YKF
