Job Description:
dnata Travel Group, represents the travel division of dnata, one of the world’s largest air and travel services providers. dnata Travel Iraq (Najm Travel LLC)  in Erbil is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Emirates Group providing travel services in Kurdistan Iraq.  dnata’s presence in Kurdistan Iraq spans over 5 years of experience in the market. It is one of the most dynamic Travel Management Companies in the area. The teams diverse expertise range from corporate travel management to leisure holidays, travel agent support, airline representation and many more services.


 

The General Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of dnata Travel, Kurdistan, Iraq market ensuring the strategic and tactical plans are in place to facilitate the achievement of commercial targets and growth in market share. Based in our Erbil office, this role requires you to have written and spoken fluency in English, and you must be willing to travel around the Kurdistan region and Iraq as required.

 

 

In this role you will

 

• Responsible for establishing medium to long term plans and setting appropriate contingency measures to secure the regions long term positioning, profitability and image based on thorough evaluation of the Kurdistan, Iraq market (competitors, suppliers, customers, products and external influences).

• Responsible for establishing business objectives, drive efficiencies and productivity that is in line with dnata Regional Management expectations and organisation strategy. Collaborate with dnata Travel head office and regional network to establish synergies and identify key supportive initiatives to deploy the overall business strategy.

• Focus on business development and the feasibility of expanding our product offering by launching the new verticals of business.

• Manage the stakeholders and develop relationships with key clientele, airlines, vendors, suppliers, government authorities, and other service providers, forging relationships that support and promote the business purpose, image, product and profitability in the Kurdistan, Iraq market. 

• Establish the company’s pricing strategy and develop creative initiatives to promote principle products and services to maximize the business presence within the market. Creatively manoeuvre within the established pricing framework making tactical decisions to enhance market share and generating additional revenue where opportunities arise

• Actively lead and provide direction to the operational/sales teams to ensure profit targets are realized at all levels of the business and that overall profitability objectives are achieved through efficient and effective working practices.

• Responsible for the management of all staff including team morale and welfare. Employ expert leadership mentoring and coaching techniques to appropriately manage a culturally manage diverse workforce in a high-pressure and challenging environment.

• Accountable for the annual budget of all manpower, revenue, and expenditure. Ensure cost effectiveness is achieved in all areas of the business through the efficient utilization and deployment of resources and through effective working practices and policies. Effective management of the working capital of the entity which includes cash flow and receivables.

• Responsible for creating a culture of service excellence; utilizing periodical service audits and employing appropriate, efficient service recovery measures where necessary. Ensure all business units are prepared, equipped and staff trained to achieve targets in line with the company strategy.

• Effectively manage all dnata Travel representation and capitalize on the brand value to increase market share. Ensure the delivery of dnata Travel product offering and consistent global standards within the region.

Job Requirements:
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements

 

• University graduate in a business management, marketing or entrepreneurship discipline with 8+ years of experience in airline / travel industry

• Financial expertise and Advanced Budget and Cost Control Knowledge 

• Fluency in both written and spoken English. 

• Must have extensive experience across a broad range of Airline / Travel related disciplines with an in-depth understanding of professional, governmental and legal compliance requirements at a local and international level. Awareness of Kurdistan, Iraq market / Middle East regional markets, airlines and travel industries.

• Experience in travel agency product pricing, contract negotiations, must be familiar with unique complexities associated with the travel industry, airline and customer requirements.

• A financial qualification would be desirable
