Your role

 

Aer Lingus are now recruiting for the role of IAG & Third-Party Ground Handling Manager.

 

Reporting to the Director of Ground Operations, the Manager of IAG & Third-Party Ground Handling is responsible for implementing, overseeing and managing the ground handling services provided by Aer Lingus to partner airlines at Dublin. They will manage and coordinate activities, ensuring strict compliance with industry regulations and company policies and the delivery of airline KPI’s.

 

This significant development marks the initiation of third-party handling operations in Dublin, with a clear trajectory for substantial growth in the years to come. As Aer Lingus takes on the handling of more airlines, the IAG & Third-Party Ground Handling Manager will play a crucial role in shaping and leading this expansion.

 

The role also focuses on continuous improvement, cost optimisation and the implementation of innovative technologies to elevate overall operational performance. The purpose is to ensure the seamless and efficient delivery of ground handling services while fostering collaborative relationships across departments and providing insightful reports to the Director of Ground Operations.

 

In addition to operational responsibilities, the successful candidate is expected to collaborate proactively with all departments in ground operations e.g. Passenger Services, Station Ops and Ramp Operations.

 

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Manage and coordinate all ground handling activities for partner airlines, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and manage contracts with partner airlines and ensure the delivery of service standards, and Key performance metrics including (Safety, OTP. Baggage, Auxiliary revenue, NPS, etc).
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment between SLAs and operational capabilities.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to manage disruptions in ground handling operations, such as weather-related issues or equipment failures.
  • Lead response efforts during operational disruptions, working closely with relevant teams to minimise impact on services.
  • Coordinate the compliance audits both internal and the 3rd party audits, understanding all regulation requirements.
  • Ensure relevant training is in place and up to date with 3rd party requirements.
  • Regularly analyse performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with other departments – EI Ground Operations management, Operations Control and Commercial to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Work closely with the finance department to ensure accurate budgeting and financial reporting for ground handling activities.

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Business Administration or a minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation ground handling, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of the detail and complexity of the regulatory environment governing ground/airport operations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • High level of Commercial Awareness and customer focus
  • Proven interpersonal skills and influencing skills with ability to build and maintain positive relationships across internal departments and external stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment
  • Strong problem solving ability and analytical skills to identify the root cause of issues and develop practical, business driven solutions
  • Proven decision making skills with the ability to make timely, clear-cut, well informed and evaluated decisions
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
