A permanent position has arisen for a Commercial & Contracts Manager within the Intelligence programme line and Sales & Marketing organisation at Airbus Defence and Space.

Airbus Defence and Space is the leading provider of optical and satellite imagery, geographic information products, software and services delivering geographic information solutions into both private and public sector organisations worldwide.

The successful candidate will, as the Commercial & Contracts Manager, lead on all of the contractual and commercial topics across a wide range of opportunities and contracts with our key customers which includes the European Space Agency (ESA), UK Ministry of Defence, UK Civil Government, and a variety of commercial customers.

This position will be based at either the Airbus Defence and Space site at Newcastle upon Tyne or Guildford.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM 

  • Management of all Commercial and Contractual aspects of all allocated opportunities and contracts with the main focus on supporting key Intelligence campaigns and contracts
  • Lead the negotiation of a variety of contractual agreements and changes including complex teaming, agency and industrial arrangements
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to deliver profitable commercial solutions ensuring that commercial risks are highlighted and mitigated and required governance is followed
  • Responsible for management of the commercial aspects of the acquire business / bidding process to establish the nature of new requirements, preparation of bid and governance paperwork and presentation of key issues to bid approvers, review and negotiation of terms and conditions of contracts and agreements
  • Work with the Procurement organisation to advise on key contractual obligations and risks within the respective prime contracts and ensure flow down and mitigation accordingly though the supply chain
  • Manage existing contracts in accordance with company procedures and contractual requirements, to ensure efficient and accurate performance of commercial activities, change management and prompt payment of invoices

ABOUT YOU – Your Skills

  • Education to degree level or equivalent in a relevant business related degree
  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience within the commercial field on complex prime proposals and contracts (Sales / Bidding / Procurement / Commercial)
  • Experience of working with the UK Ministry of Defence, UK Governmental, European Space Agency (ESA) and  Non-Governmental customers in a commercial environment
  • Proven reputation as a self-starter, capable of delivering high quality workload with minimum supervision
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills
  • Ambition and desire to further develop within Airbus
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact and influence across a range of stakeholders
  • Fluent English language required
  • Current UK Security Clearance would be beneficial but not essential; however, the successful candidate must be eligible to gain UK Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.
