The Manager, Flight Standards and Training will report to the Chief Pilot. He/she is responsible for developing, implementing, and ensuring all training programs are conducted in accordance with TTCAA regulations, operating procedures, and standards. The incumbent develops and manages internal audit procedures to ensure regulatory and operational compliance on the fleets and assists in ensuring that fleet operations are carried out with approved policies and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures that fleet operations are conducted in accordance with Caribbean Airlines’ approved procedures, standards and company policies.
- Develops and implements training initiatives and ensure all training programmes and instructions conform to and comply with TTCAA regulations and Caribbean Airlines’ Company’s Operations Manual (Part D) as well as Caribbean Airlines’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as stated in the Operations Manual (Part A);
- Ensures a high standard of operational safety is maintained in the Flight Operations Division;
- Liaises with Chief Pilot, Fleet Managers, the In-Flight Training Unit and the Manager, Air Safety in developing and promulgating safety;
- Liaise with TTCAA on operational matters including the timely delivery of all training and checking activities e.g. dates, times and locations;
- Ensures that Training/Check Airmen and Instructors maintain the required level of proficiency;
- Issues guidelines to Training / Check Airmen and Instructors to ensure training syllabi meet the needs of all training programmes as stated in the Operations Manual (Part A);
- Keeps up to date with developments in technology and techniques which affect Flight Operations, particularly in the field of training and operating procedures;
- Ensures that Aircraft performance, navigation and infrastructure, policies, rules and instructions are complied with during line operations, recurrent line and simulator training and checking, and in ground school training;
- Initiates, plans and implements all Flight Operations training programs in consultation with the Executive Manager Flight Operations/Chief Pilot;
- Monitors Flight Operations training programmes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; and
- Ensures that all Flight Crew training records are maintained in accordance with the applicable TTCAA regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
You will be academically qualified at the degree level in a related discipline; and or a suitable combination of qualifications and training. You have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as pilot in command of commercial air transport operations with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Check Airman/Training Officer and Instrument Rating Examiner.
You must be a holder of a valid Airline Transport Pilot License issued by the TTCAA with the appropriate ratings for at least one of the aircraft in CAL’s Fleet. You must demonstrate Operations, Quality Assurance, TTCAA Regulatory procedures. You must also be proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
You must have excellent leadership, communication, and planning skills with the ability to think strategically. Strong analytical, reasoning, and risk management skills are also important requirements of the role.
