Job Description:
A career without limits

Let your Originality soar.

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re encouraged to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role:

An exciting opportunity to join British Airways Global Learning Academy (GLA) as a Systems and Technology Manager has arisen!

The Global Learning Academy serves as the learning arm of British Airways, with a dedication to placing our colleagues and customers at the forefront of everything we do. Our primary focus lies in delivering comprehensive training to power our colleagues to achieve their utmost potential, through engaging learning and our environment as we recognise the significant value of each colleague and the key part learning plays in the airlines success.

In this role you will be accountable for the strategy, proficient management and future development of our learning by improving all aspects of our learning technology and interfaces.

What you’ll do:
  • Define and implement initiatives for the efficient utilisation of systems and proactively explore innovative technologies to improve our system capabilities and broader integration with British Airways systems.
  • Serve as a key strategic and tactical liaison, as well as a technical subject matter expert, for external business units, providing insights on our system usage, connectivity, and integration.
  • Offer technical expertise and support the development of our dashboard, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Maintain integrity and access control of our system by supervising user adherence to agreed-upon system limits.
  • Encourage and maintain strong, agile relationships with internal and external partners, including IT Technical Teams, Cyber, and IT contractors.
  • Supervise the contractual performance of our system suppliers and effectively handle business relationships.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
  • Strong commercial mindset with a primary focus on quality and service.
  • A creative approach to problem-solving, making critical choices when needed.
  • Agility and forward-thinking, adept at navigating dynamic and resilient business environments using digital solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organisation.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and able to analyse data to support insightful decision-making.
Your experience:
  • Proven background in IT and systems, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of technological landscapes and platforms.
  • Experience of working in a complex organisation and comfortable delivering successful projects in an evolving environment.
  • Experience in user accepting testing, including the creation of test scripts and training materials to ensure the seamless integration of systems and processes.
  • Project management experience is essential.
What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.

We never stand still, and we don’t expect our people to either.

Inclusion & Diversity

We recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity, and identity to work. We encourage people from all backgrounds to be part of our journey to become a Better BA.
