Responsibilities Position Summary

The Manager of Bi-Weekly Pay is responsible for the administration of payroll for bi-weekly employees. This role will focus on the continual evaluation of current processes and procedures to identify areas that need process improvement. This position is also responsible to assist in the development of the payroll team through the teaching and sharing of bi-weekly pay best practices. The Manager of Bi-Weekly Payroll will oversee the payroll team and will help prioritize the workload for the team while working autonomously with PSA, Union, and Shared Services Organization (SSO) Leadership. The role of Manager of Bi-Weekly Payroll shall act as the liaison for PSA by providing project support during discovery, selection, and implementation for all payroll technology enhancements, including Workday, Roster Apps, i.e.. through collaboration across multiple internal departments and external vendors including PSA, American Airlines IT, Shared Services Organization (SSO), and Arcos (RosterApps vendor).

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the payroll team responsible for the execution of bi-weekly pay both in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Supervise the payroll team to ensure bi-weekly service levels are maintained to the highest standard while striving to expeditiously address any issues as they arise
  • Foster strong working relationships and trust with both employees and cross departmental leaders in Labor Relations, Scheduling, Flight Ops, Inflight, HR, IT, and the payroll department at the Shared Services Organization (SSO)
  • Delegate and assign work to the payroll team as necessary
  • Maintain and interpret knowledge of existing Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Work in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Finance to continually develop departmental goals and objectives that directly impact the Bi-Weekly Payroll strategy
  • Identify, evaluate, and help to implement process improvements to help make the pay process more efficient
  • Build strong work relationships with both the internal IT organization and external vendor partners to seek out and identify IT solutions to improve the Bi-Weekly Pay Process
  • Manage and maintain monthly, weekly, and daily schedule(s) to ensure accurate completion of all tasks in a timely manner
  • Maintain the Crew Member Uniform Program including ensuring database is up to date with latest uniform purchases from M&H, Lands’ End, and Aramark while working with the Shared Services Organization (SSO) and the uniform database to process uniform deductions prior to the 5th and 20th pay dates for the crews
  • Process uniform allowances as well as invoices from Uniform Vendors
  • Assist crew members with uniform-related questions and concerns
  • Manage payroll program for bonus Payment Recoupments for Terminated Employees
  • Responsible for the Companys Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Position Specifics Qualifications

Required

  • Associate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent work experience including auditing, processing, and managing payroll processes while leading/coaching other team members
  • At least 3- 5 years of prior management, project management, or supervisory experience (payroll preferred)
  • Proficiency in financial and payroll management systems
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at various levels
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management
  • Ability to perform projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and ability to exercise sound judgment and lead a team
  • Demonstrated ability to execute contractual policies and procedures regarding pay
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English
  • If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Prior aviation or regional aviation industry experience preferred
Additional Information

Delegation: In absence, tasks delegate to the Assistant Director of Finance

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has supervisory responsibilities
