This is a temporary position ending approximately July 6th, 2025, with the potential for a contract extension.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, motivate and mentor a team of 25+ charter staff: Charter Specialists, Charter Supervisors, Charter Trainer, and Baggage Specialist
- Oversee and provide support for the Charter and ADHOC operations;
- Provide leadership to oversee day to day operations in multiple bases to ensure all teams adhere to established procedures and SOPs.
- Liaise and collaborate with Account Managers to continuously improve and meet client SLAs;
- Encourage departmental growth by setting objectives with team members and helping them work towards their goals;
- Reduce costs and keep departmental spending under budget;
- Work with third party ground handlers/contractors;
- Work in collaboration with multiple other departments depending on the task including internal and external;
- Regularly monitor and evaluate team performance to confirm compliance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure consistent execution of responsibilities across all bases and foster accountability to maintain operational excellence.
- Coaching staff on performance related concerns;
- Strive for continuous improvement and growth within department. Developing projects and seeing them through to completion;
- Responsible for SOPs and continuous improvement initiatives within the charters group;
- Accountable to ensure staff are operating to an acceptable standard as per contractual requirements;
- Responsible for assisting with recruitment efforts;
- On call 24 hours a day to support operations;
- Travel as necessary;
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education (2 years);
- Three (3) years of previous experience;
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite are required;
- Strong knowledge base of Charter requirements, both adhoc and industrial as well as process;
- Strong leadership skills for staffing a group of 25+ employees;
- Ability to develop relationships with subcontractors and bases;
- Ability to adapt to changes and client demands, including contractual obligations, regulatory etc.;
- Ability to make day to day operational decisions and financial approvals for IROPS, spend within budget etc.;
- Ability to make staffing decisions including praise and disciplinary including follow up with/without HR.
- Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision or direction;
- Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication;
- Proven ability to effectively handle diverse and challenging situations;
- Ability to manage priorities and conflicting demands;
- Well organized, detail orientated, capable of multitasking;
- Ability to communicate in Inuktitut a definite asset;
- Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access; Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada;
