Responsibilities
As a member of the Network Planning team, the Manager of Current Schedules will maintain near-term company flights schedules while collaborating with stakeholders both internally and externally on the most commercially profitable and operationally viable schedule solution.
The Network Planning team drives the strategy of the airline; therefore, this position will require problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly across multiple departments and management levels. This position will require interfacing with internal departments, the executive team, as well as external partners across the whole commercial aviation spectrum. As this position has a broad range of responsibilities, we are looking for a candidate who can handle multiple issues at once and resolve them in a timely manner under pressure.
- Develops the Spirit Airlines schedule in a way that drives solid commercial results while meeting the operational needs to run an on-time airline.
- Suggests innovative ways to improve the current schedule.
- Implements close-in schedule changes for commercial and operational reasons, this is especially true in today’s rapidly changing economic environment which will directly affect the everyday duties of this role.
- Adjusts the company fleet plan as needed with various inputs that change on a day-to-day basis.
- Assists with both internal and external schedule distribution – maintaining the schedule in our reservation system as well as in 3rd party channels.
- Looks for ways to make the schedule more commercially attractive both from an aircraft gauge and market timing perspective.
- Runs gating at the airports from a planning perspective – builds and manages gate plots to ensure the schedule matches the facilities footprint.
- Coordinates with Operations Control, Maintenance, Ground Operations, and other departments as part of the everyday schedule development process to ensure operational integrity.
- Reviews schedules with team members through a collaborative process that considers cost and operational concerns while maximizing profitability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Economics, Business Administration, Aviation or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in Economics, Business Administration, Aviation or a related field.
- 1-3 years of People Management experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access).
- Capable of developing high-quality, professional PowerPoint presentations to display data and tell a story in a clear and concise manner.
- Must have proficient scheduling software knowledge such as Sabre, Schedule Manager, OASIS, Lufthansa Netline and GDS/PSS systems such as Sabre, Navitaire or Amadeus.
- Must have excellent knowledge of the commercial aviation world especially when it comes to competitive dynamics and relevant current events. This means knowing airline networks, fleets, government policy related to aviation and general airport operations is essential.
- Working under pressure with tight deadlines that are both commercial as well as contractual is an integral part of this role therefore, an organized multi-tasker that can prioritize solving problems will succeed in this role
- Domestic & International travel under 10 of the time.
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
- Must be present at the worksite 100 of the time.
