Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.The Manager, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Assets and Safety Compliance is responsible for the acquisition, management, allocation, disposal, administration and safety compliance (SMS) of all Air Canada ground equipment assets. Within the scope and performance of this role, the Manager, GSE Assets and Safety Compliance ensures all GSE assets purchased or otherwise acquired from an external vendor or supplier meet all regulatory and product technical requirements specified by Air Canada and maintains a strong partnership with the safety organization.Responsibilities: 

    Lead Air Canada GSE asset programs, IOSA, SMS and other authorities, partnering with the safety organization.Address risks in new equipment operations by identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures, overseeing regional safety operations, and supporting SOP audits.Ensure compliance with IOSA, SMS and other authorities and model safety awareness in compliance with government and company safety standards and regulations.Support Management and Ground Handlers in safety, security, and customer service activities.Collaborate with Corporate Safety, Environment and Quality to identify and mitigate GSE asset related hazards and risks.Ensure products acquired from external suppliers, which directly affect operational safety or security, meet required technical specification prior to being utilized in Air Canada operations.Accountable for administration of station’s allocation of Air Canada ground support equipment assets.Oversee planning and logistics for new equipment and fleet redeployment.Lead equipment projects to support new aircraft acquisition programs and major schedule changesResponsible for development and execution of long-term GSE renewal plans.Responsible for administration of GSE technical purchase specifications ensuring all ground equipment purchased by Air Canada is designed, manufactured and supplied in accordance with regulatory, corporate and industry standards.Validate disposal of surplus/scrap equipment and materials at all GSE locations.Accountable for documentation of all GSE disposals and transfers to ensure compliance with regulatory and Air Canada policies and procedures.Lead evaluation, testing and acceptance inspections on new GSE equipment.Lead risk assessment, policy and safety committee teams for all newly acquired ground support equipment.In collaboration with Strategic Purchasing, establish and administer Air Canada GSE supply and service agreements and act as primary AC vendor liaison with ground equipment asset suppliers.Manage and allocate GSE assets for Air Canada, Air Canada Express, and internal departments.Administer and maintain GSE asset unit ID systems for Air Canada and customer fleets.Responsible for administration of all M5 systems and records as related to asset management.Accountable for the financial performance of all GSE capital activities by establishing and monitoring corporate reporting systems. Responsible to identify and implement process improvements to optimize operational and financial standards.Accountable for accuracy of GSE vendor invoicing and to approve and process associated expenses for payment.Participates in the development of strategies and corporate initiatives for Air Canada GSE.Anticipates, identifies and resolves service and operational problems, with a results-oriented approach to safety, security and performance.Follows document retention guidelines as outlined in Pub 100.Refers to Pub 100 for SMS management responsibilities.
Qualifications

    Possess at least 7 years of relevant experience in a commercial aviation ground support equipment operations and/or large fleet maintenance environment.Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hold a technical accreditation (relevant trade’s license/endorsements), an asset.Demonstrate project management experience, an asset. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.Exhibit the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and multitask.Maintain a strong focus on continuous improvement and achievement of objectives while maintaining positive and productive relationships both within and outside the work group.Have sound technical and working knowledge of airline ground support equipment.Possess comprehensive knowledge of ramp handling and aircraft ground handling requirements.Have experienced in the development and management of large budgets and standard financial practices.Be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and other Air Canada Ground Support Equipment computer applications (M5, E-Sage, etc.).Ability to successfully obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC). Ability to travel frequently domestically. Effective working knowledge of:
