The Manager, Line Maintenance -Mexico City position will be responsible to lead the TechOps operations within all stations in Mexico. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead a highly skilled technical team with a large frontline workforce. Must effectively manage stations with a contract operation, providing tactical and strategic leadership in Mexico to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient operation.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

  • This position also requires the ability to build effective interdepartmental and cross-divisional relationships.
  • Partner effectively with the Delta MRO organization and external partners in the execution of projects and maintenance contracts.
  • The position will be based in Mexico City and will report directly to Russell Nieman, General Manager Operations Support.
  • This individual is responsible for leading, planning, organizing, directing and controlling operational resources of Mexico City and contract maintenance stations and has financial oversight of stations budgets.
  • Manages the daily operations of line maintenance while assuring strategic focus and performance excellence in financial and operational performance.
  • Has the ability to seek opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and competitiveness of products and services.
  • Manages departmental activities supporting corporate objectives and leadership competencies.
  • Ensure that assigned equipment is serviceable as required to satisfy flight schedule requirements.
  • Leads by example and models corporate values.
  • Serves as a change agent for the implementation of improvement projects.
  • Has leadership accountability for frontline, professional, leader personnel.
  • Develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety conscious environment that results in employee safety and well-being.
  • Develop, coach and mentor leaders within the station to improve operations and prepare them for future leadership opportunities
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of supervisor and/or managerial experience in the airline industry.
  • Must possess a valid license issued by the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (Agencia Federal de Aviación Civil)
  • Qualified candidates must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse audience at all levels (written and verbal).
  • Must have work authorization to work and live in Mexico. Delta does not sponsor.
  • Must be comfortable in front of senior level executives and have exceptional presentation, oral and written skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is a must.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to provide an atmosphere in which personnel are self-motivated to perform.
  • Current, or prior, leadership experience over contracted workforces is required.
  • A&P license is required.
  • Strong business acumen is required.
  • Ability to lead cultural change that supports greater employee ownership and accountability in the operation is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance operation as performed in a Line Maintenance environment is required.
  • Must be highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Analytical thinking, strong negotiation skills, solid decision-making abilities, able to balance multiple competing priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • An ability to create an environment of continuous improvement is required.
  • Must have the ability to lead through times of change and adversity.
  • Must have a working knowledge of competition and an understanding of current business environment.
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

  • Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority
  • High School diploma, GED or High School Equivalency
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Line Maintenance experience strongly preferred.
  • Undergraduate or higher degree preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated cross functional leadership and team building skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Should have the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Must have working knowledge of Deltas administrative personnel practices.
