SUMMARY:

The Materials Manager shall be responsible to the Senior Manager Materials or the operation of Customer and VT MAE material storage and handling operations.  The Materials Manager shall manage the Company or Customer Material Operations, including project status reporting and material control, management of Stores Operations (VT MAE owned inventory, shipping and receiving and the Satellite Warehouse.  The Materials Manager shall organize, develop, train, and provide leadership, direction and planning to the department staff for the accomplishment of the above functions in all related material department programs.

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Identify, control, segregate, and maintain all company owned and customer owned material in compliance with company policies and procedures and industry standards of practice and procedures.
  • Ensure proper accountability of company inventory.
  • Ensure storage facilities are operating within safe guidelines, and cleanliness of facilities are in an orderly manner.
  • Ensure that life limited materials are maintained under shelf life control and are properly identified, stored and discarded as required.
  • Ensure that parts dispositioned for scrap are properly identified, dispositioned, mutilated and discarded as required.
  • Assist and provide guidance to his/her subordinates in proper procedures, methods and practices in their respective duties.
  • Recommend improvements to material policies and operations through employee involvement.
  • Ensure that all customer material billing is processed in a timely manner and coordinate billing reviews with the customer as required.
  • Ensure all outstanding Material requirements for aircraft on the ground are efficiently planned / processed and expedited in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all material status reports are updated with the most accurate information.
  • Serve as the alternate to the Manager Materials for maintenance and update of the shelf life control system and scrapped parts disposition and disposal system.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:    Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:

           

Knowledge of commercial aircraft material and hazardous materials related to shipping and storage; basic insight on the background of customs, both import and export; material planning skills related to Customer Program requirements and internal inventory planning; CASE and FAA material control guidelines related to commercial aviation; Aircraft material related documentation and tagging requirements; good communications and supervisory skills.

SUPERVISION: 

 

The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority.  Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.

 

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: 

 

A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: 

 

Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:  Associate degree or equivalent in training, education and/or experience. 

 

EXPERIENCE:  2-3 years Inventory experience, 2 years supervisory experience.
