This Manager Internal Audit invests in our Purpose by leading the Finance/Operations Audit Team to provide independent and risk-based assurance, advice, and insight to stakeholders across the organization. This role provides input on departmental strategies, establishes work plans for a successful operation, and oversees the development of audits to identify risks and evaluate the effectiveness of operational, financial, compliance, and technology controls. The Manager Internal Audit is an analytical thinker and strong People Leader who is excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the improvement of Southwest&39;s operations, risk management, and governance processes.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work at a Company facility at least three days a week.   • Job Summary
    • Manage the Finance/Operations Audit Team within the Internal Audit Department, provide input on departmental strategies, establishes work plans for a successful operation, and oversees the development of audits to identify risks and evaluate the effectiveness of operational, financial, compliance, and/or technology controls.
  • Model the Southwest Way to:

  • Job Responsibilities
    • Partner with multiple Teams within the Internal Audit Department and larger organization to provide audit thought Leadership and Southwest specific insight related to assigned functional areas and to verify risks are mitigated appropriately.
    • Oversee risk assessments, evaluation of controls, development of audit plans, testing strategies, audit findings, and conclusions.
    • Understands best practices, capabilities and constraints related to delivering audit services
    • Stays abreast of emerging trends, risks, technologies, and processes related to assigned responsibilities
    • Cultivate, support, and promote an organizational Culture that provides for high performance, high morale, integrity, Teamwork and work-life balance
    • Lead, support, and influence the achievement of the mission, goals and objectives of the department and organization
    • Participate fully in organizational processes / initiatives, i.e. performance management, interviewing, budgeting, training, etc
    • Recruit, develop, and retain individuals with skills, attitude, and experience necessary to enable the organization to meet commitments
    • Provide continuous coaching to improve Team Member, Peer performance and business knowledge

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Understands and is able to communicate internal controls related to financial, operational, technology, and/or compliance risk
    • Understand and apply information to contribute to the organizations strategic plan
    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
    • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
    • Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
    • Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making
    • Ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, which does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
    • Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
    • The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
  • Education
    • Required: High School Diploma or GED
    • Required: Bachelors Degree
  • Experience
    • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
    • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in Public accounting, internal audit, technology, cybersecurity and/or relevant business experience
  • Licensing/Certification
    • Required: CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, CRMA, CFE, and/or other related certifications
  • Physical Abilities
    • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
    • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
    • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Other Qualifications
    • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Pay & Benefits:

    Competitive market salary from $124,550 - $138,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
