Job Description SummaryThe Next Generation Survivability Support Leader will be responsible for planning/execution of activities associated with the survivability sustainment priorities and requirements within the assigned programs.
This role will require in-depth knowledge of Low Observable maintainability processes to provide generalized support and judgement to resolve future durability, reliability and maintainability issues that arise from the Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) Phase across the GE Aerospace Edison Works portfolio of next generation advanced military engine programs.
In this role, you will participate within cross-functional teams to develop and deliver survivable sustainment strategies and products that align with weapon system contractor and Department of Defense (DoD) customer’s needs. You will also support the development of data, information, and equipment required to sustain and maintain the advanced propulsion systems survivability systems through ground testing and operational fielding.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Participate within integrated product support team members that will make decisions to shape engine fleet survivability sustainment strategies, improve logistic support capabilities, and reduce engine life cycle costs.
  • Work with weapon system contractors and DoD customers to establish sustainment survivability strategies and supportability requirements that are incorporated into propulsion system design decisions.
  • Work with Systems and Design engineering organizations to ensure the maturing propulsion system architecture meets sustainment durability, reliability and repairability requirements and needs at all DoD levels of maintenace.
  • Support identification of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) opportunities and work with controls engineering organizations to explore future Prognostics and Health Monitoring (PHM) capabilities.
  • Ensure proper levels of product support are provided during applicable engine ground and flight testing campaigns.
  • Support the identification of applicable hardware testing requirements
  • Support spare parts forecasting and supply chain management provisioning activities.
  • Partner and work cross-functionally with reliability, maintainability, safety, supportability and human factors engineering teams.
  • Support the establishment and activation of organizational, intermediate, and depot maintenance and sustainment repair activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to enhance digital logistics and sustainment capabilities and integration.
  • Support development of life cycle cost models and support design and sustainment  trade-studies to minimize sustainment costs.
  • Provide input on the design and development of support equipment and the authoring of applicable maintenance technical manuals and training material.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or an Associates Degree with 4 years of additional relevant and equivalent experience).
  • Direct experience working with, or for the U.S. military in the maintenance, operation, or sustainment of aircraft or propulsion systems.
  • Awareness of U.S. military organizations, logistics and sustainment processes and environment.
  • A minimum of 4 years of military or DoD related industry experience.
  • Must have or ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work full time on-site at GE Aerospace headquarters in Cincinnati, OH; due to security requirements there are restricted work from home or remote opportunities

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior military experience as a maintenance officer or enlisted aircraft maintenance technician (tactical aircraft maintenance, aerospace propulsion, or low observable aircraft structural maintenance highly desired).
  • Experience with maintenance or sustainment of 5th generation military aircraft, such as the B-2A, F-22 or F-35A/B/C.
  • Familiarity with turbine engine operation and demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and sustainment processes for military engines.
  • Familiarity with the development or authoring of technical engineering and sustainment deliverables, such as: Life Cycle Management Plans, Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis, Maintenance Task Analysis, Support Equipment Recommendation Data, Logistics Product Data, Product Support Analysis, Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis, Level of Repair Analysis, and Life Cycle Cost models.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret or Top-Secret Clearance.
