Job Description:
Job Purpose
As the Operations Duty Manager, you will lead the cargo hub operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) on a shift basis, driving productivity and resource optimisation to meet operational goals ensuring that quality, safety and regulatory standards and procedures are not compromised.
Job Outline
- Manage top line operational activities and enable the right people with the right skills to be assigned at the right time to accomplish the work that needs to be done.
- Provide leadership and direction to the operations team in areas such as performance management, upskilling and recognising development needs within the team.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal departments to positively enable department objectives.
- Evaluate team performance against established goals and objectives, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback to individuals in accordance with the Emirates performance management principles.
- Manage conduct and conflict within the team in line with the relevant policies and procedures ensuring consistency and objectivity.
- Lead monthly safety meetings based around investigation, audits and corrective actions to ensure safety, security and regulatory standards are applied without compromise.
- Ensure all safety incidents and accidents are investigated effectively, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to regulatory obligations including SMS and IOSA.
- Prepare the daily hub operations and SkyCargo hub service level reports and recommend changes to maintain and continuously improve SkyCargo Service Delivery.
- Recommend changes to Standard Operating Procedures as appropriate and encourage teams to participate in continuous improvement initiatives and new ways of doing things.
- Ensure all deviations are handled, recorded and escalated as per Standard Operating Procedures.
Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following requirements:
Education and Qualifications
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
- A qualification in logistics and operations management or similar would be advantageous
Experience
- Logistics/Cargo / Other : 8+ Years
- Experience of cargo operations, with at least 5 years experience of supervising an operational workforce
- Experience of cargo load planning
- Experience of ramp handling
Knowledge and Skills
- Expertise in IATA cargo handling procedures and regulations
- Knowledge of aircraft handling, weight and balance, load planning and dangerous goods regulations
- Demonstrable ability to find solutions to conflicts and irregularities
- Proven ability to act as an effective mentor/coach
- Knowledge of risk analysis, airline quality management systems and ISO9001/2000 procedures
- Minimum DG Cat-8
