Christchurch Aircraft Maintenance has an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to step up to the role of Production Leader Avionics and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), reporting to the Production Support Manager.

This role requires a logical thinker and decision maker who enjoys managing multiple tasks in support of the Aircraft Maintenance business. You will be flexible in your approach and someone that doesnt shy away from a challenge or two. With an ability to work with people, you will be a leader of teams and someone who promotes Air New Zealands Leadership behaviours in everything that you do.

Demonstration of technical knowledge of the various trade groups, in particular Avionics, is a key attribute required for this role.

Your day-to-day duties will include directing and overseeing the operation along with the supervision of the teams. You will pride yourself on meeting and exceeding both internal and external customer requirements and ensure that your teams are meeting targets.

You will have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective business relationships with senior management, customers, and colleagues alike.

Key Outputs include:

  • Produce and/or maintain reports, documents, and records to communicate technical information and ensure an accurate audit trail
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve aircraft operating performance, technical processes and procedures and create cost efficiencies
  • Lead the team to ensure the development and maintenance of a high-performance environment
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to understand and meet customer and business needs and objectives, to consult on technical issues and to ensure the effective planning and delivery of projects
  • Manage and/or contribute to the delivery of projects that meet customer and business needs and requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Contribute to the management of the team budget to ensure costs are managed effectively and expenditure is within authorised limits
  • Actively ensure the safety and security of all people, assets, systems, and procedures engaged in all associated with own area of responsibility or otherwise under own control or influence
  • Willingness to work with flexibility within the Production Support team as well as the greater Aircraft Maintenance business.

You will be a big part of leading culture change and promoting a continuous improvement environment all whilst being integral in driving the safety of our people and our operation. The successful candidate will be a motivator of the team and will ensure that a Safety and Compliance Culture is always in place - all whilst ensuring that target times are met.
