We are seeking a highly motived and experienced Project Leader to join our Engineering Project Management Office (EPMO). The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects according to schedule and within budget. This role involves managing project scope and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. This will include plan and budget development, establishing resource requirements, monitoring progress, escalating issues appropriately, managing cross-functional multidisciplinary teams of employees and contractors, and keeping stakeholders informed the entire way. Projects may include large infrastructure upgrades or modifications, special processes or equipment development and implementation, engine test facility and equipment upgrades, new product introductions, process improvement, outside contracts or continuous improvement projects of a technical nature. The successful candidate will actively participate in the development and continuous improvement of our EPMO templates and processes.

The Central Engineering function at StandardAero consists of a range of teams that support over 50 sites around the world by applying a variety of engineering skillsets to strategically prioritized projects and processes. You will work with a variety of different functions and business units to complete projects that are directly aligned with the organization’s strategic growth and sustainability plans. 

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the planning and allocating resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Leads the initiation and planning of a project and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Ensures resource availability and allocation.
  • Develops a detailed plan to monitor and track the progress of the project.
  • Coordinates with internal and external parties for execution of projects.
  • Manages relationships between clients and stakeholders.
  • Measures project performance using appropriate project management tools.
  • Performs risk management analysis to reduce project risks.
  • Reports and escalates to upper management as and when needed.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation.
  • Manages approved project timelines.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and approves contracts for work performed by consultants and outside contractors; monitors budgets, approves plans and designs, and resolves problems as they arise.
  • Produces periodic project status reports comparing actual to forecasted timeline.
  • Acts as a liaison with internal and external customers, assuring satisfaction with progress and quality. 
  • Participates in projects as a team member and/or team project leader.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carries out special duties as assigned.
  • Contributes to continued improvement of internal processes and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • Engineering background an asset.
  • 3-5 years of project management and related experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Demonstrated achievement leading teams through large, complex, multi-site and multidisciplinary projects. 
  • Customer-centric attitude with strong business acumen.
  • Strong familiarity with project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision-making, project management, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle.
  • Project Management qualification (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or equivalent experience as a project manager preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability and willingness to travel (up to 35).
