Job Description SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity at our Dowty Propellers site in Gloucester for a Lead Project Manager - Obsolescence Management.

In this role, you will resolve business obsolescence challenges, which are critical to the achievement of our business objectives and strategic growth plans.

Leading cross-functional project teams and working closely with stakeholders at all levels of the business, you will define objectives, put in place detailed project plans and apply rigorous project management practices to ensure adherence to time/cost/schedule and identify and mitigate risk.

The initial focus of this role is on product obsolescence management and establishing a team and processes to manage obsolescence issues. Looking ahead, the role will also encompass transition of work between suppliers in accordance with business needs.

Job DescriptionResponsibilities:

  • Project leadership
  • Define project scope and implement change control to avoid uncontrolled scope creep
  • Maintain a comprehensive risk/opportunity register and an active risk mitigation plan
  • Establish and maintain accurate project budget and forecast via business financial rhythm
  • Organise and lead project reviews, ensuring robust project, financial and commercial governance utilising tollgate framework as appropriate
  • Identify and implement appropriate metrics to monitor project progress  
  • Lean leadership and delivery of Kaizen activities  
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Proven experience of leading Project Management activities in a matrixed organization within Aviation or a similar industry
  • Project management skills, including scope, resource and schedule management
  • Excellent oral and written communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrable track record in managing several projects in parallel to required timeline, quality and cost
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally occasionally

Desired Characteristics:

  • Educated to Degree level in Business, Engineering, Law or similar, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • PMI certified  
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Technical background in Aviation or similar
