SUMMARY:

The Project Manager shall be responsible to the Manager Program for the overall operation of the individual customer aircraft projects.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and direct their assigned project(s) efficiently to assure timely completion of the project on schedule while meeting the airworthiness and quality standards required by the Repair Station, FAA and the customer.
  • Promote the Repair Station philosophy regarding quality policy and teamwork at all times.
  • Assist in training and nurturing employees to use proper procedures, methods and practices for their respective duties and responsibilities to assure an efficient project that meets the Repair Station’s, FAA’s and customer’s standard for airworthiness and quality.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are performed within the regulations and/or guidelines set forth by government agencies (i.e., FAA, EPA, OSHA, etc.), as well as the Repair Station’s policies and procedures, customer’s requirements, and applicable aircraft manuals.
  • Ensure supporting departments are informed of project schedules, priorities and needs.
  • Ensure that all necessary resources (i.e. tooling, materials, personnel, etc.) are available to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Direct personnel assigned to their project from all departments and provide technical assistance to personnel as required ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Coordinate, supervise and direct Lead mechanics, as required to ensure that all necessary maintenance entries are properly executed by the responsible mechanics on the proper maintenance forms and work orders used by the Repair Station.
  • Interface directly with customer representatives.
  • Prepare for and manage project status meetings with Repair Station staff and customer representatives.
  • Promote proper communication between departments and shifts (i.e., proper verbal and written maintenance turnover).
  • Monitor total control over aspects of project management.
  • Monitor project to ensure proper man-hour accounting and that maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage and account for all work hours, including overtime hours, ensuring proper distribution and reducing overtime hours except when project schedules are jeopardized.
  • Manage employees’ indirect hours (i.e., sick time, vacation time, etc.) to avoid abuse.
  • Coordinate with Lead mechanics to ensure that all personnel performance evaluations are completed on time and fairly.
  • Issue disciplinary action to personnel when necessary within the guidelines of the Repair Station’s policy manual.
  • Coordinate with Repair Station’s and customer Planning departments to ensure that leak checks, operational/functional checks, pressure vessel decay checks, etc. necessary to ensure aircraft airworthiness are performed in an efficient and timely manner when required.
  • Coordinate with other Repair Station management to ensure proper utilization of manpower, hangar space, equipment and any other resources.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager Program.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:        Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:

 The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

 

SUPERVISION:  The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority.  Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.

 

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:         Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:   2 years college / trade school. 

 

CERTIFICATION:  Airframe & Powerplant and/or Airframe license.

 

EXPERIENCE:   5 years commercial maintenance, 2 years lead or  supervisory experience.
