Project Manager

374.21 - 500 per day

Morson are currently recruiting for a Project Manager for one of our innovative clients that design, integrate, test and commission innovative space systems. They use sophisticated technologies to support commercial, government, scientific and security customers. They are looking for a project manager experienced within an engineering industry.

As a Project Manager, your leadership will ensure the successful delivery of projects and bids relating to system studies which capitalise on Pan-European expertise. You will provide change control, commercial awareness & stakeholder management within a commercial fast paced environment. The role is being offered on a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. For the first 3 months you will be based in Reading with 3 days a week required on site, this arrangement will then change to Harwell.

Responsibilities

  • Management, coaching and motivation of a multifunctional project team.
  • Identify, understand and manage all project risks and opportunities.
  • Support the full business lifecycle management, including capture, qualification and developing capture plans and winning strategies on bids.
  • Project execution through budgetary control, scheduling and resource planning.
  • Lead and chair customer reviews
  • Support bid management.
  • Management of the relevant players in the supply chain to ensure compliance and on time delivery performance.

Requirements

  • Degree level qualification in an associated discipline (such as project management or engineering)
  • A professional qualification from a relevant Professional Institution is desirable (PRINCE / IPMA / APM accreditation).
  • An evidence based track record of managing projects in excess of 2 million in a highly regulated industry, consisting of engineering and manufacturing elements.
  • Established leadership skills, proven communication skills, planning and delivery coordination.
  • An evidence based track record of being sensitive to customer requirements and building relationships.
  • Possess commercial/financial/business insight and be able to exercise sound judgment under pressurised situations.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the ‘full product lifecycle’ for generation, delegation and adherence to work packages as needed in a controlled industry.

Desirable Experience

  • A level of technical knowledge or awareness of Space Instruments, Mechanisms and Propulsion technology (chemical and electric systems)
  • Knowledge of the processes involved in the conduct of integration, qualification and calibration campaigns.
  • An awareness of Hardware, Software and Firmware development activities.
  • Awareness of Institutional funding (ESA/UKSA).

 

A driver’s licence that is valid in the UK is required for this position.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
