Morson are currently recruiting for a project management opportunity for Thales in Crawley. We’re looking for a delivery focused project manager, to support avionics upgrades of in-service military helicopters. This is a critical project so we’re recruiting for an 18-month contract to support the development of new upgrades.
As a delivery PM you would be working across multiple teams in a matrix organisation, focusing on managing resources to enhance successful delivery of upgrades. Experience of working in the Defence or Aerospace industry is essential, ideally in a delivery focused role feeding into the MoD. The role is offering hybrid working, with 3 days a week on site in Crawley.
Responsibilities
- Management of cross functional teams in a matrix organisation with the support of an assistant project manager.
- Managing internal and external stakeholders, in particular customer and supplier relationships.
- Forecast costs and budgeting requirements.
- Internal and external reporting activities including schedule, metrics, tracker and performance.
- Defining Project Execution Strategies and leading the creation of Project Baselines and structures as ‘PM designate’ through the bid phase of the lifecycle.
- Ensuring that appropriate KPIs are established and controlled for Project outcomes.
- Ensuring robust Project Controls are deployed and effective.
- Liaison with contributing functions to drive quality, cost & delivery performance.
Requirements
- Experience of managing delivery projects within Defence and Aerospace.
- A proven track record of delivering successful projects in a context relevant to Thales.
- Experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Able to manage customer and supplier relationships, ideally within the Aerospace and Defence industry.
- Leading the process of structuring and planning complex projects and the tailored deployment of best practice project controls
- Directing project activities with reference to the baseline and critical path, with a focus on proactive risk and opportunity management and controlling variance to time/cost/quality
- Experience of Project financial and contractual management
Desirable
- Capture and/or Bid Management experience
- Experience of leading a range of different project types – Design & Manufacture, Service & Support, Transformation etc
- IPMA and/or other relevant professional Project Management qualifications appropriate to grade
- MBA
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
