Job Description SummaryEdison Works is the military business unit of GE responsible for research and development of next generation military aviation products. Our mission is to invent the future of flight, lifts people up, and brings them home safely. The Propulsion Test Leader Engineer will be responsible for testing and measuring thermodynamic performance for a multi-engine test campaign of an advanced military engine that incorporate GE’s latest advancements in engine technology. The Propulsion Test Leader Engineer will report to the Advanced Product Development – Performance Engineering Manager in Evendale.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate propulsion test planning, test instrumentation, test coverage, and pre- and post-test analysis for assigned engine program
  • Lead team in all aspect of performance testing across multiple test engines
  • Proactively identify engine system propulsion issues and work cross functionally to drive solutions within a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop cycle test methods as required for advanced cycles and new technologies
  • Identify need for technical and program test reviews and support the team in preparation and/or review
  • Present technical and programmatic information to internal and external customers using clear and concise methods
  • Drive proper documentation of all technical work on the assigned program
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of propulsion engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of testing experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance

Desired Characteristics

  • Active US Government Security Clearance
  • Experience testing military engines at government test facilities
  • Experience with military engine performance and installations
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and provide critical thinking as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamic cycles as applied to gas turbine engines
