Position Overview:

Responsible for management of personnel and administration of the Quality Assurance, Inspection and Calibration functions within IMP Electronic Systems. Implement the Quality Management System (QMS), effectively establishing and managing appropriate measures to assure product and process compliance including corrective and preventive actions. Conduct oversight to ensure that operations are current and compliant with IMP’s QMS, regulatory, customer, and airworthiness requirements as well as providing guidance on Customer Satisfaction monitoring.

What You Will Do:
  • Implement IMP’s QMS in all areas of the Electronic Systems facility to ensure conformance to requirements across Airworthiness Compliance, Product Release, AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Responsible to the IMP Aerospace Quality Department Head and IMP Electronic Systems General Manager for issues affecting the QMS and/or product quality.
  • Responsible for coordination and collaboration of quality processes between IMP Electronic Systems and IMP Aerospace including writing/amending QMS procedures and internal/external audit planning activities.
  • Responsible for the initiation and execution of Corrective Action (CAR) and Nonconforming Part (NCR) reports including the conduct of Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Liaise with Regulatory and Customer Representatives on quality matters.
  • Participating in contract reviews for quality considerations, developing Quality Plans, and key performance indicators where required ensuring that requirements are communicated to Program and Operations staff.
  • Establish initiatives with Operations to reduce costs associated with poor quality of product, services, and documentation.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Inspection Department personnel ensuring adherence to technical, quality, budget, schedule, and management system requirements.
  • Act as the Electronic Systems, Authorized Contractor Certification and Release Authority for product, overseeing all Customer Delegated Source Inspection functions and First Article Inspection activities.
  • Provide input to Continuous Improvement and OH&S initiatives.
  • Provide monthly management briefings on divisional performance related to internal non-conformances, reworks, escapes, warranty returns, audit results and corrective action follow-up.
  • Direct the technical operation of the ISO 17025 calibration laboratory, supporting all calibration activities including participation in business development.
  • Interpret calibration measurement data, performing root cause analysis of technical discrepancies as required.
  • Develop and implement calibration data and recording requirements for the calibration function.
  • Carry out other assignments as may be tasked by Electronic Systems General Manager or the Quality Department Head.
What You Will Bring:
  • Engineer, Technologist or Technical Training from the Canadian Forces or a Transport Canada approved training organization or equivalent background of training and experience in the aircraft maintenance/manufacturing industry.
  • Avionics/Electronics background preferred and must be knowledgeable with ISO9001, AS9000 or AS9100 quality standards.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of the ISO 17025 standard preferred.
  • Leadership skills; detailed knowledge and experience in interpretation of engineering specifications, design standards, avionics
  • Repair and Overhaul practices as well as manufacturing procedures.
  •   Knowledge or experience in Statistical Process Control techniques as well as working knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an Avionics Repair and Overhaul environment and/or manufacturing or a minimum 3 years direct experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance.
  • Experience working in a management/supervisory position in an accredited calibration laboratory is an asset.
  • Experience working within a union environment would be an asset.  
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
