Supervise and coordinate the activities of Quality Engineers and Technicians to ensure quality standards are met and maintained. Work alongside the Quality Engineers and Technicians to complete the tasks and projects required to support the needs of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, develop, and implement quality engineering procedures.
- Establish in-process and finished goods quality requirements by utilizing customer specifications.
- Diagnose quality problems and provide technical assistance to resolve them.
- Act as designated primary point of contact for assigned customer group.
- Analyze scrap and rework problem areas to establish causes to identify the equipment and establish personnel responsible.
- Compile and submit first article and periodic inspections results to customers.
- Perform other duties such as: planning and designing quality plans, control tests, methods, measurements and techniques; recommending equipment necessary to provide acceptable quality level; and analyzing customer complaints.
- Coordinate inspection requirements on critical items manufactured by subcontractors.
- Review and supervise all customer special requirements (preservation, packaging, cleaning, data reports, etc.)
- Coordinate and evaluate all subcontractors’ audit reports.
- Review and interpret the impact of customer specifications, revisions, and new launches.
- Negotiate requirements and interpretations of specifications with customers where required.
- Regularly communicate the status of the group’s assignments and progress to upper management.
- Write cost justifications for employees or equipment as needed.
Duties are complex and vary to a great extent from metrology and quality functions to managing/motivating employees at all levels to achieve/product quality work. Receives general supervision. Functions independently much of the time. Work must be free of errors because of the critical nature of the products produced. Must interface with colleagues at all levels. Responsible for the quality of the product and its performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineering degree with a minimum of five years of experience in quality, or 6 to 8 years quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SPC, LEAN, and managing quality outputs using key metrics.
