Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Vice President, Cormorant Mid-Life Upgrade Program (CMLU), provide direct QA/QC support to the CMLU program. Develop Quality metrics and performance indicators for the CMLU program from the analysis of data collected during Quality activities conducted within the program. Review and develop Quality Management System (QMS) documentation including the creation and amendment of Quality Plans and Joint Operating Procedures applicable to both IMP Aerospace and Leonardo Helicopters United Kingdom (LHUK). Carry out Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities to monitor adherence to contractual, technical and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a solid quality and technical background and analytical skills to determine continuous improvement opportunities for the CMLU program. 

This position will report to the IMP Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.

What You Will Do:
  • Support internal Quality audits and associated activities for the CMLU program to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain and improve quality metrics on the CMLU program.
  • Collaborate with the LHUK Quality Manager on CMLU Quality activities.
  • Initiate Corrective/Preventive actions (CAPA) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) as required.
  • Prepare or amend Quality Plans and Joint Operating Procedures as required for the CMLU program.
  • Communicate effectively with Leonardo Helicopters on-site personnel, Customers, Regulators and other internal IMP departments regarding Quality Management System and Program requirements.
  • Process Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and act upon results as necessary.
  • Conduct aircraft inspections and documentation reviews to ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable specifications and conducted by authorized personnel.
  • Interpret specifications, standards, drawings (detail and assembly), aircraft technical publications and data applicable to the conduct of maintenance.
  • Perform other duties, including administrative functions, as assigned by the VP, CMLU.
What You Will Bring:
  • Graduate of an accredited technical program or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience in working in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 QMS.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR), DND Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM), and airworthiness release functions would be an asset.
  • Formal training in Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes or equivalent experience would be an asset.
  • Familiar with Program Management principles, Lean Manufacturing and 6S concepts would be an asset.
  • Motivated, organized individual with good interpersonal and strong communication skills capable of working independently or within a team environment.
  • Experience creating detailed reports.
  • Computer skills; must include proficiency in MS Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with J.D. Edwards and/or SAP software would be an asset.
  • Experience working in an aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, repair and overhaul environment preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with aircraft inspection, measuring and test equipment beneficial.
  • Possess a working knowledge in the interpretation of engineering specifications and standards.
  • Be capable of leading discussions with staff, management, customers and regulators in a professional manner.
  • Working knowledge of Flight Safety Programs or Safety Management Systems (SMS) beneficial.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental policies, continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and be fully compliant with all applicable Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Articulate, personable, well presented, communicate effectively and represent the Company in a professional manner.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
