About the Role...
Within the new Digital Payload Centre of Competence of Space Systems Engineering organisation, a capable and motivated individual is required to take responsibility for the engineering that ensures Payload robustness across multiple Telecomm’s Programmes, for all payload types;
The successful applicant will join the Digital Payload Delivery group, you will be an integral part of our engineering team, contributing to the success of space missions. This role presents a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge space projects, collaborate with a diverse team of experts, and contribute to the advancement of satellite products.
We are looking for a candidate able to provide technical mentoring to the team members, but also focused on creating a highly cohesive team, despite the distribution of the resources across different projects.
The successful candidate will both lead and develop a team of engineers with multiple competencies to be managed (including mechanical, thermal, EMC and electrical). In addition, the successful candidate will be personally competent to perform one of these roles, directly on project.
How will you contribute to the team…
Lead the team including the recruitment, training and development of staff; drive a delivery mindset.
Provide technical mentorship to the team members
Provide support and assistance to enable work package delivery on projects
Drive effective risk identification and mitigations in conjunction with Payload management
Ensure that the delivered Payloads are fit for purpose and that the customer is satisfied, through an efficient monitoring and validation programme.
This team shall actively monitor the payload design robustnesS actively monitoring and justifying design and build integrity during payload procurement, build and test activities
Provide the payload engineering interfaces to the internal and external customers.
Apply and enforce the design standards applicable for payload activities (in conjunction with Technical Authority)
