What Will You Be Doing?·

The Sr Director of SOC provides the organization, process, systems and guidance to maintain safe and effective “day of” airline network operations, and develops and implements strategic initiatives to ensure consistent coordination of the functional areas of the SOC department, including coordination of functions outside of Flight Operations and determines organizational objectives of the SOC department. The Sr Director of SOC is directly responsible for ensuring the SOC is running effectively, through identification and development of high potential candidates and the continued development of tools and processes to ensure success and creates and develops support and enthusiasm for the continuous improvement of departmental operations through endorsement of a shared company vision, while providing leadership, direction and policy guidance to the SOC department. This opportunity is posted as a Senior Director-level role, but can be elevated to VP based on required experience or performance in the role, once hired.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor workload and effectively delegate responsibilities to direct reports, ensuring that activities are conducted in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies and procedures, and mitigate risk.
  • Establish a training and leadership template to be used at large stations to ensure smooth operations and coordination with the SOC.
  • Establish a training team to visit large stations and ensure coordination between station and SOC Operations.
  • Establish and maintain the personnel, organization, processes and systems to ensure that the SOC continually achieves safe and efficient airline operations.
  • Establishes and maintains KPIs for the SOC which measure its effectiveness and spots trends which need to be addressed.
  • Provides effective and timely feedback to Network Planning on block reliability, system operational integrity, and methods to improve operational reliability and completion rate.
  • Personally leading and/or supporting the SOC during major disruption events. Be present when needed.
  • Create, communicate and execute operational plans to prevent and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Keep Frontiers senior leadership apprised of status and developments during irregular events.
  • Support organizational policies and senior leadership through productive analysis and constructive suggestions.
  • Provide operational input for daily senior management briefings as required.
  • Examine and recommends changes to improve the quality and efficiency of the daily operational plan and execution of the daily schedule plan.
  • Identify key issues and develops strategic business solutions.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance initiatives such as fuel burn reduction.
  • Develop employee-based channels to solicit feedback and input on the quality of work issues important to employees in the Department.
  • Select, motivate, train, develop and formally evaluate staff assigned to SOC, Dispatch and Performance Engineering functions and projects.
  • Develop and manage a large diverse budget ($3MM+) for department and all assigned areas of responsibility; maintain budget to +/-5 and take effective action to reduce spending exceedance.
  • Manage a multi-functional staff of 25+ employees with overall responsibility for hiring, training, counseling, performance, productivity, management and salary administration activity.
  • Responsible for the content of the Dispatch Operations Manual.
  • Administer the TWU labor agreement between the company and its dispatchers.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP Flight Operations.

Other Functions

  • Identify policy and procedure inconsistencies within the department and other departments and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinates activities between other areas within Flight Operations, stations, maintenance and the SOC.
  • Serve as Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF) mobilization representative, if applicable.
  • Member of leadership team providing input for improvement in reliability.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of management experience in Dispatch or System Operations at a FAR 121 carrier.
  • Aircraft Dispatcher certificate, preferred.
  • 3-5 years direct 121 air carrier dispatching experience, preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Aviation field or equivalent required.
  • Departmental budget experience.
  • Labor relations experience preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.

Salary Range

$179,353 - $238,059 (BOE) plus 20 STI Target- PLEASE NOTE : The Salary Range provided is graded at a Senior Director level, range will increase if the ideal candidate qualifies for a VP- SOC. This posting will close on or before 9/16/2024.
