The Role: Senior Health Safety & Environmental Advisor

You will work alongside some of the finest professionals in the industry. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our Engineers working on our fleet of aircraft and ensuring that we operate in the most balanced way possible. Put simply, you’ll help ensure the safety of our Engineers, who in turn keep millions of passengers safe in the air.

What you’ll do:
  • Is an authority on health, safety and environment matters on behalf of British Airways with internal business areas and external suppliers, OEMs, customers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Carry out risk assessments and formulate safe systems of work within the engineering directorate.
  • Develop procedures and mentorship for Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory changes.
  • Analyses health, safety, and environment data, ensuring safe and compliant practices and procedures are developed and implemented.
  • Leads and handles investigations of health, safety and environmental related events and instigates preventative actions.
  • Evaluates manufacturer and industry technical data to develop and implement regulatory and manufacturer requirements, recommendations, and industry standard processes through engagement with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
  • Self-motivated, and able to support change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written oral and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills at all levels within the business
  • Strong influencing and decision-making skills
  • Strong investigative skills
Your experience:
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent level 6 qualification (Essential)
  • IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent level 5 qualification (Essential)
  • Engineering based degree (Essential)
  • Part 147 Level 1 – Aircraft General Familiarisation (desirable)
