Job Description

The Senior Lean Leader is responsible for transforming GE’s results through the application of GE’s lean principles.  Specifically, this role will work closely as a partner with the Power and Avionics engineering and program management teams in our Cheltenham location to drive a lean mindset and ensuring lean principles are applied effectively in support of executing our business commitments, as measured by our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This leader will work across our engineering and program management teams to implement practices and principles that promote and enable GE’s lean transformation in support of our true north metrics (S, Q, D, C) to drive business impact.

The Senior Lean Leader will serve as a facilitator, educator, and coach to the engineering and program management teams to drive the understanding and application of lean principles and tools to create a lean operating system. This will be accomplished through:  

 

  • Teaching / Coaching the Daily Management process including daily management meetings, genba walks, problem solving, kaizen events and kata coaching cycles
  • Establishing a kaizen event rhythm with the teams and leveraging that activity to develop lean proficiency for employees
  • Partnering with leaders to prioritize and solve problems impacting program delivery and cost
  • Working with colleagues to quickly deploy new, best-practice capability and processes within the business
  • Coach less-experienced lean practitioners to amplify and accelerate business impact

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in lean implementation / transformation, preferably in a transactional or product development setting

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Lean practitioner, capable of facilitating kaizen events and coaching core tools such as daily management, structured problem solving, and standard work.
  • Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large, matrixed organizations – able to influence without direct authority
  • Experience implementing and using agile principles and methodology
  • Change agent, able to make the case for lean and demonstrate immediate impact
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, delivers impact
